i know...i know...

Tis the season is almost over...and now we are in full swing with birthdays here.

DH is now as old as I am .....C-man is going to be 6 on tuesday!! Time flies....

Sorry I havent posted...but I will be putting up some xmas pictures after our whirlwind trip to the cabin.

We are heading up tomorrow for the New years celebrations with family and friends....skidooing, skating, playing hockey, having fireworks and hopefully a lot of wine. Should be good times.

We are leaving first thing in the am (after DH gets his license renewed.....he's more of a procrastinator than I am!!)....then should be there by noon. Wish us luck.....promise to post pics when I get back.....

TTYL!

the stress has passed

Okay..now 2 out of the 4 xmas celebrations are behind us. We've been spoiled already and its not even xmas. My stress is gone...so no more rants.

After the quick trip to the city on friday...headed back to my hometown for our party there. DH managed to come for most of it, and got to try out his sled as well. The kids (and us) were spoiled with gifts...incredible amount of food and booze, and the hospitality. It was a lot of fun.

Came home last night to laundry and cleaning...but the boys got their remote control trucks working and already had an obstacle course built for them in the basement.

Today..DH had some shopping to do..so we are doing "chores" so that this afternoon is free to do whatever the kids want. I think we are going skating at the outdoor rink and trying out the new gt racers.

After that we are headed into northtown for a bit of carolling, then back to friends for some pre-xmas drinkies...

should be fun.

So...tomorrow is the big day...HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS everybody!!!

The cards will be out in february.

one more rant..

then for sure I will find that firetruckin book...the secret.....

I dont get it!! I dont understand.....Why xmas baking, again? We bake for months at a time...to "have if company comes over"...ok...right....who are we kidding. We bake at least double what is necessary, because we eat half of it before its even "christmas season"....and then make more.

Then, our guests dont eat it anyway (probably full from baking for other people)....then we eat it....cause we dont want it to go "bad"...what a waste that would be. yeah right.

Then...one week later...our bellies aching ....we say....No not again...we are making a resolution to eat healthier and lose weight.

WTF? Are we insane???

This year....I will not bake. I promise.

But, I'm sure I'll eat yours....

F-iretruc-k

What starts with f, ends with k and I forget the rest.....but I have been saying a shorter version of it alot lately. Me thinks I need anger management.

Work has been incredibly firetruckin busy and with not much hesitation, told my boss I was not working tomorrow as I had to make an emergency trip to Saskatoon.

Costco is an emergency isnt it?

Also...have to buy 2 gifts, pick up spring rolls (the best ever!!), wrap presents, pack our bags for a weekend getaway, and get groceries (we are down to canned rations)

So....I am off to the city and have to be back here before 2:30...schools out early....and after a day of xmas class parties and sugary treats....we are looking forward to entertaining them in the vehicle for two hours. yeah!!!

I gotta find "the secret" again....i think its wearing off.

xmas concert

Tis the season to be jolly....tell that to my counsellor.

Anywhoo...

Had the boys Christmas concert last night. Left 20 minutes earlier than I anticipated, found the closest parking spot about 6 blocks away, and lost both kids in the shuffle without saying good bye or break a leg. Off to a good start.

Then made my way through the throng of adoring grandparents to find a single seat by some good friends of mine (who experienced jingle balls with me a few years ago...)

This year....the oldest performed once again. This time it was not his privates he acted out with.....First...there was a choking of the boy in front of him (he later called it a massage...) Second...there was the waving of arms frantically (friends thought he was trying to start the wave). Third....there was the tackling of any other boy nearby....and lastly his spinning around wildly on the bleacher. Not sure if I have forgotten anything. His performance was stunning as the ass of a camel. Brilliant in fact.

Camera...with brand new batteries....did not function. Hoping to get pictures from friends....or not.

The youngest boy...who I have always thought would be more of a handful than the older. Sang like an angel. Never moved out of spot. Did not fool around. Wow.

Now...not sure what to think. Apparently my parenting prowess has only worked on one boy. Must think of new tortures to get the older one in line.

Next year....there is always next years performance.

dont give me grief...

Ok...been single parenting since Monday...so if I havent posted...too damn bad!! (ok little bit of stress creeping up on me!!)

Sunday was great. Had an early xmas at Grandpa B's and Grandma C's. Of course, they were spoiled rotten. We ate like crazy, and the kids got to have a swim. I volunteered to be the DD...and got the joy of driving home in complete fog again. (Dont say it...I know I'm always in a fog ...hahaaha).

Monday DH left for Lloyd and is supposed to be returning tonight sometime. I spent the day at home with the youngest who now has another damn cold. I also worked like a mad woman from home (its really busy right now). Monday night was "free" so the kids and I drove each other crazy until bed time.

Tuesday (was that yesterday?) both kids were in school, so I worked my tush off (i wish).....until school was out. Then there was hockey, and after that I worked my canteen shift. Thanks soooo much to my awesome friend Louise....she is amazing. Came and looked after the boys and cleaned my house!!!

Today...I am drinking heavily...so not sure that I will post tomorrow......

last day of the weekend....cherish it....

Good morning...its sunday....man the weekends go by wayyy too quick.

Yesterday the boys had two hockey games each. Retzkys game was an early one, and they needed C-man to help out. I was really impressed and proud of both of them. They have really come a long way. Retzky even tried a pass to his line mate through his legs and behind him. He got 4 goals and even better, was passing like a mad man. (they only allow 3 goals). C-man got another goal and is really starting to get the feel for this older team. It was a great game to watch.

Then -with no time to spare- DH took the youngest to another rink for his 2nd game. He got his three goals all in one shift and the rest of the game went painfully slow. Its going to be hard watching next year (he's supposed to go another year in initiation - or prenovice.....)

After that game, came home for a quick lunch and laundry....then headed off for the next game where R-dog was needed to help out the Atom team. He played defence and did really really well. The game ended in a no score tie. Longest game ever....2 hours and something.....so needless to say we were hockey'd out yesterday.

Then last night headed into Northtown for a few xmas drinks with friends.

This morning, I am the only one out of bed so far and I have to get the troops up and at er.....we have hockey at 9:45, then 11:00 .....then off to the city for xmas with the inlaws....still have to wrap presents!!!

Take care.....make use of the last minutes of your weekend.....

Happy Birthday Mom!!

Happy Birthday to you!! Hope you have a great day mom. (aka Gladys...aka Grandma Tractor...)

Have a great day filled with family, friendship and song......lalallala

Love you!!

tgif

After a farily stressful day of work thursday (yes, I mean a full day), where my boss and I almost had a fist fight. Well, ok a lop-sided fist fight. I was going to punch him in the face and he was going to like it. yeah...something like that. Or, he was going to fire me. One or the other.

We headed into the city bright and early this am.

First, C-man had his Ear Nose Throat appointment. Where I was also prepared to fight to the death for the removal of tonsils. Apparently, it was not to be. The doc totally agreed with me that he was in really bad shape. He even told me it was worse than I thought. His hearing test was wayyyyyy worse than it was in April and his ear drum has completely collapsed (whatever the hell that means) and he told me that the possibility was there for complete hearing loss. Sooooo...he is on the short list to get his tonsils out, adenoids out and ear tubes put back in. Should be happening sometime in the next 6 weeks. (if it was just for ear tubes....it would be a wait list of.....drum roll please......2 YEARS)

Then, took the boys out for a Jared friendly lunch. (which apparently didnt quite cut it and we went and bought 40 timbits)

Next on our fun filled day was the eye dr. Retzky was pretty good. He has a slight astigmatism (?) and a little far sighted...but nothing serious. C-man is really quite far sighted and we are going to have to watch him close next year as glasses may be in his future. Poor little guys head is all going to pot at the ripe old age of 5.

I had a little question about a yellow spot on my eyeball...which has some big fancy name for what is equivalent to a callous on my eye. Says the major contributor is UV rays and that if I dont constantly wear sunglasses it will get larger. (So, in my very imaginative brain....I envisioned a hairy wart coming from my eyeball) . Good excuse to go shopping. Must have at least 4 pairs of shades with me at all times.

Now ...we are back home chillaxin. Hockey starts at 9, then 10:45, then 2:30. (nope not a tourney...just a regular saturday). Sunday 9:00am then 11:00.

I think I'm gonna have to start drinking coffee.

Whats up today

After a restless sleep we are up and at em this morning.

Neither DH or I could sleep a wink (unusual for me)....then at about 5 something...his work called him to see if the instructions were right about not wanting a call for work. DUH....thanks for phoning, waking us all up and asking us if you didnt want to be called. Brilliant.

Got the kids off for their last day of school this week. Forgot to send cranberries with one, forgot to send money with the other. Parent of the year award coming right up.

I am heading off to work today - going in to pay my dues. Work my fingers to the bone. Put my nose to the grindstone. (Can you tell I'm trying to procrastinate?)

Then hockey practise tonight with the Atom team...clean the dang house and off to the city for dr's appointments tomorrow.

I have been making a list to tell the ENT dr about C-man.

1. Has lost approx 4 lbs in the last month. He has lost .5 since feb of this year.
2. Has had tonsillitis 4 times since July. Twice he was throwing up blood.
3. The last bout of tonsillitis started Oct 15th and although the infection has gone, his tonsils were still swollen as of last night.
4. He's got glands the size of frankenstein.
5. He has been snoring really bad the last two months. So bad, he wakes himself up...and I can hear him clear across the house.
6. When he's sick....he's down....(most kids get sick for a week-maybe ten days)...not him...when he gets a cold etc he is down for at least three.
7. Still has a hard time hearing, and a hard time breathing....most times he does so through his mouth.

The only other thing I would have liked to have, was to get DH to come with me. It never hurts to have a 6foot + man with a mean look on his face to intimidate. Guess I'll have to put my game face on. Wish me luck

Fujis the man

Green is the color.

Also...the color we were the next day. Check out the bottle of whiskey that Fuji brought. He purchased this 12 year old whiskey the last time the riders won...and swore he wouldnt touch it until they won again!! (It WOULD NEVER HAVE LASTED THAT LONG AT OUR HOUSE!!)

I wasnt much of a camera man...as I forgot to show the helmet at the top...its a roughies helmet!!

Monday night

Usually, Monday is our only free night. So, we took advantage and had some family bonding time. We made our gingerbread house. Almost without fighting. I said almost.

First, we constructed it wrong. (put the roof part as the wall). Then, somebody had gas. Soo bad, that DH had to stuff his nose so that he could help us. (Gas is the source of our entertainment most days).

The boys had fun.

I got to clean up.

Approx one hour later..

Good effort by us to keep it structurally sound. Unfortunately about 75 minutes after construction, you could see a visible gap in the roof.

But, its still standing. (minus a few candies)

Happy B'day

Happy Birthday Uncle G!!

(I would call you Uncle Tit, but I know you dont like it!!)

Hope your day is all you want it to be, and that you're in bed early (like the rest of us old folks)

Sunday, December 09, 2007

oh yeah, forgot.

Another reason why the weekend was good.

Crazy cousin phoned me saturday to let me know that she has secured the boys xmas present for us.

Hottest ticket item in western canada...maybe all of canada.....maybe the WORLD (ok, now I'm getting carried away).

Hoping the boys will like it now...but we are pretty damn excited.

Sunday...and its almost over...

We had a great weekend.

DH managed to get the weekend off, as he is transferring back to NB. Dont get too excited, as I'm sure he'll be back to Biggar shortly.

So, friday night we had a PAR-TAY. And, if I do say so myself, think it turned out pretty damn fine.

First, the menu. Crab stuffed mushrooms, Spinach and Artichoke dip (hot) and parmesan meatballs. All turned out great.

Then, the drinks. Rum and eggnog...(ok the eggnog did not even get opened...does it ever?), PARALYZERS (Louise had the vase), vino, shooters.....you get the idea.

Then...the friends. WE HAD FRIENDS SHOW UP!!!! Yeah....I would prove it to you, but I forgot to pull out the camera until about 2:30 in the morning, and by then they were all gone, except our two visitors from outta town.

Bonus...only one got sick....which means.....IT WASNT MY COOKING!!

Saturday was a day of rest......and late hockey.

Today, we meandered into the city after hockey. Got some shopping done and a good visit with the outlaws. Great to see everybody.

Now tomorrow....back to reality.

Question of the day

#1 son asks me today...

"Have you ever seen the movie, Alice in Newfoundland?"

After the fits of laughter, we said yes...we've seen alice in Wonderland!!

Holy K

Whilst scheming for xmas last night, I found myself chatting with my incredibly charismatic cousin. (check out that sentence for first thing in the am!!)

She is soo freakin funny and she makes me smile when we actually get a chance to visit, so it was a nice phone call.

BUT...I have to write in my blog about this INCREDIBLE FEAT.

They had an 80's theme day at her work, and she wore her Grade 11 basketball warm up suit!!! That was twenty plus years ago!!! Are you freakin kidding me? WOW. That is awesome. To fit in to your clothes from 20+ years ago and to still have it!!

That motivates me now to get back on that treadmill full time. Or, eat like crazy cuz I'm jealous. thanks...

desperate to get rid of...

Okay...there are some things we brought over that we do not need...I'm sure I'll have a list...and maybe even a garage sale...but for now....I really really really want to get rid of...

A small tv (19 or so inches)...maybe for a kids room or lake?
A vcr....lake??
About 47 sq feet of hardwood (beautiful brazilian tigerwood)...
Microwave (i think might be spoken for...mom??)

Anyone interested??

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ONE OF MY MOST BEAUTIFUL LITTLE NIECES EVAH.....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!

HAVE A GREAT DAY SWEETIE!!!

thank goodness for friends

We truly have been blessed to meet some great people here in NB.

The move here was a bit- okay alot - tougher than we thought. With no family and not a lot of friends around it was an adjustment to say the least. (Did we ever really thank our friends and family for ALL the babysitting they did for us...pro bono??)

Now we have met some great friends here. Tonight when I took the boys to hockey practise, the coach says to me...."You must have other things to be doing, why dont you let me bring the boys home?". How wonderful.

So, I got to run out and purchase xmas gifts....yeah!! Started shopping.....now only 147 more to go. Plus 55 birthday presents and xmas cards/pictures which I have already been given s$#t over......if we are ever all together in the same room we will take a family photo and I will send them out. (no promise on when....maybe when I send my wedding thank you's)

Speaking of wedding thank yous....I made a pie last night. (Please hold the dessert jabs!!) I used a shower gift for the first time in 10 years. A glass pie plate thingy and it worked marvelously. Kids loved the pie. Lemon meringue....delish. So, heres a thank you out to whoever gave me the pie plates. Thank you...

be careful what you wish for...

cause it just might come true. Isnt that how the saying goes?

So, yes this new reno project has eaten into our budget. just a wee bit. ummhmmm

So, yes I have been known to complain once or twice about money. just a wee bit.

So, yes I may have wished for DH to make more moola ....and me to work full time again.....???

I was fortunate enough to get a raise this past week as well as a bump up in my hours (from 20/week to 30/week). This definitely helps. Guess I wont be sending those resumes out just yet.

DH has been working like a mad man this week. When he does come home, he gets in around 2am, then gets called out again in the morning...usually 10 or 11. And with MORE DERAILMENTS this week, he has been working some really odd shifts. Yes...I said MORE DERAILMENTS.

He made some fantastic money this week....but is that what we really really want?? (too much spice girl influence this week!!)

freakin cold..

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but I'm inside right now (delightful)...except so is the damn dog.....aarrgghhhh.....someday I may grow to love her (when shes fat, lazy and has no teeth left to chew anything to shreds)...but right this minute her "puppiness" is driving me around the bend. Even DH says this will be our final dog.

Okay...boys hockey went well this weekend. Retzky won his Novice game on saturday (he got his three goals, C-man helped them out and got one himeself), C-mans game went the opposite way.....we're not supposed to keep track, but they got whooped (he did get his max three goals)

Then Sunday, R-dog tied his game...it was really close the whole game....he only got one goal. (It may have been because we had to buy him a stick, and we didnt have enough time to cut it down....it was ridiculously long and he played the game quite akward....bad mommy).

C-man had a late game last night, and they did much better. He got his three goals and we went home a happy bunch.

DH has been working like crazy...and is loving this main line work...I wont be seeing much of him, so I guess I have to get used to watching movies on friday and saturday nights....pretty pathetic!! If I've said it once...I'll say it again....must get together with the girls......

Thursday, November 29, 2007

Day one..

Okay..the whole "reno thing" excuse has worn its welcome out. Had to get back on the damn treadmill. After two months of collecting dust...I learned a few things.

1. Two months is a ridiculously long time
2. I am not 16 any more
3. It takes two hands to hold "the girls" in place as to not get a black eye.
4. I need more than two hands, because I needed two hands to keep my ass cheeks from knocking over the tv.
5. You can not run with a beer in your hand.
6. We really need curtains, I think I caused a car to hit ditch.
7. They say that 40 is the new 20....I really need to get to 40
8. Inevitably someone will call when you try to excercise...sorry for not picking up...but if I stop, I will find a movie and a bowl of popcorn...

Also...the new Ipod we got ourselves as our 10th Anniversary present rocks!! I mostly listened to AC/DC...they rock!! ("the girls" thought so too)

what to do...what to do?

Merry freakin xmas!! I know its quite a long ways away yet...but BUT...still have no idea what to get the kids. Neither does Santa.

Still dont know what to get for my very hard to buy for sister and brother in law (you know who you are!!). Still have no idea what I am getting for my father, or my four nieces.

yikes!!

So, today (at work) went on to Toys R Us website, plunked in age and sex (you know male or female...duh) and came up with some great ideas.

If you dont know what to get my kids, please just send cash and I will make sure they get something suitable..hahahahahhaa

We have our decorations hung, tried to buy a fireplace today and they didnt have ours....maybe by the 10th....cant have xmas without stockings hung by the fireplace...right? (Cant deal with DH whining anymore about how cold he is....the thermostat should be set no higher than 17 degrees...just better keep moving or cover up....I pay the damn bills you know?!)

So...to summarize....I'm screwed....hate giving gift cards....dont give cash.....must be creative....

WHERE'S THE VINO?

life in general....

Yesterday had a little visit from Uncle Freddy, Grandpa Tractor and my cutie p'tootie niece....who didnt say a word to me!!! Not like the normal story teller....guess she didnt feel comfortable??? (Need to steal the two for the weekend and start making a habit of it, so we all get to know each other better)

She did go skating with DH, C-man and his buddy. (Weds are free preschool skate)....but unfortunately couldnt come over for a visit after as they had xmas shopping and a deadline. We'll have to do it soon..

I'm heading in to work today (delaying a bit...) and have my year end review tomorrow. This will tell me how much of a bonus I will receive from the past year. Being that I am only gteed 20 hours/week, it may only be enough to buy a case of beer. Oh, who I am kidding...IT MAY BE ENOUGH TO BUY A CASE OF BEER!!! yee haw

Hockey tonight, tomorrow (i think) and saturday sunday....rounds out the weekend.

hockey

Last weekend the boys got to play in their first game together. Totally excited. C-man wasnt quite as aggressive as normal...but that will come. He got the first goal for the team!!! (So, I had to put a bug in Retzkys ear that he couldnt let his YOUNGER brother score more than him....which apparently you're not supposed to do....bad mommy!!) Thats why he's sticking his tongue out at me!!

C-man also had another first...first goal in Novice and first penalty.....in his first game. Unlike his older brother, he was quite upset about getting a penalty. We had a talk before the game about how penalties hurt your team. He was not very happy. (Retzky was smiling and laughing when he got his first!!)
And here...its over....their team was victorious.....its nice having them play together. Although, the coach said that Retzky gave him advice and s*#t the whole time, just like an old woman. (wonder where he gets that from? ;)

ps...Retzky ended the game with the max allowed...3 goals.....C-man with 1

Edmonton Oiler game...

The kids had a blast!! Unfortunately DH is like me with the camera (although he blames me for not having batteries)...They were about 4th row and 7th row very close to centre ice. C-man got a puck given to him by a Colorado player...then got another 2 pucks after that. They all got to sit in the Fan-boni, which is apparantly a zamboni that is no longer working and has some video games and stuff inside??

The Oilers lost the game 3-2, but the kids had a blast, spent all their saved money on shirts and hats, and food...then came home.

Thanks for the Albertan hospitality from our crazy cousins...we really appreciate it!! next time...I'm coming....

firebugs

Interesting day at our house yesterday. There was no school again. Teacher development day, or something like that.

The boys did really well on their own for the morning. By the afternoon got really bored. Really bored.

They decided to start a few different items on fire (from my scented candle burning), then thinking they might get into trouble, hid the burned items underneath their pillow.

Good thing my mommy nose kicked in and I smelled burning...and caught them.

Daddy went a little crazy with the discipline....I did the stern lecture in my meanest voice.

After the time outs, they did school work....and lots of it. (They were supposed to think this was punishment, but I think they actually liked it...)

Nothing burned down...no insurance claims....

Its official...

Enough people have said it...you know....

When hell freezes over ......

Well I love the fact that the Riders won ...but enough already with the -40 with the wind chill!!

The riders will win again...so theres no need to panic.....get the sun out!!

Parent-Teacher Interview Day

Earlier this week, the boys brought home their report cards. Overall we were pretty pleased.

R-dog has all 90+, with one exception. Art . Art?? He's currently got a 74. And again, his only real downfall is that is isnt neat and tidy. (must get that from someone?? mailman??)

C-man's was pretty good as well. We havent worked with him as much (bad parents....bad) so we are going to have to start. Numbers, letters and days of the week....is our focus.

I am going to see if maybe his throat/ears/constant being sick has anything to do with that on Dec 14th. (This is now the latter part of week 6 that his tonsils are STILL swollen. I'll never make it to six episodes of tonsilitis, because the poor fart isnt getting any better!!)

The fam should be home later today....I'm very excited to see them. Talked to them for a few minutes last night, they said they had unbelievable seats and the kids are really pumped. Thanks to Willy!! This was awesome!!!

you know you're getting old when

Okay now..no comments from the peanut gallery about getting old (by peanut gallery I mean GnD!!!)

The boyz have now left for Edmonchuk to watch the Oilers stink up the joint tonight. The kids were up in the 6's this am and were vibrating they were so excited. Good thing DH is the one locked in a vehicle with them for hours on end.

Me, I'm planning so much stuff its not even funny. I am going to clean, organize paperwork, eat fast food (the kind my kids dont like), invite all my friends over, drink myself silly and then pass out and do it again ...until they get home tomorrow am. Yeah right. I am apparently getting old, because I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet tonight so I can get some bookwork done. Its embarrassing really. Next thing you know I'll be telling you about my first gray hair (still hasnt happened yet!!)

So, if your watching the game tonight, keep your eye out for some rowdy Saskatchwanians....

let it snow

Please let it snow...DH is getting antsy ...needs to get that sled going.

C-man had his first practise with the Novice team last night...he was pretty pumped...gets to play his first game with them friday night. This will be the first game the boys get to play together...pretty exciting. I'll try and make sure I've got the camera ready (and batteries too!!)

The deer are still coming right up to our house and eating my frozen crab apples that I didnt get picked when we moved in. Its amazing to see them come right up to the house with no worries. We have friends that says we can charge some American hunters to sit on our deck, drink beer and start shooting. Nah...couldnt do it...I'm an animal lover....but it could bring in some extra dough for xmas..???

Weekend notes

Hockeys over for another weekend.

Retzkys Novice game went really well...they won by quite a margin and he played great.

C-mans game was on a big ice surface, so it was a bit slower than normal, but still he played well.

As soon as he was off the ice, we were off to Unity for Retzky to help his Atom team play in a tourney. His first game he got off to a really good start, scoring the only goal for his team that game. Then, he decided to try out the body checking and decided to hit the biggest (and best) player on the opposition. He took quite a run at him and laid a big hit.....unfortunately Retzky got the worst of it and crumbled to the ice....the other player didnt even flinch. He was definitely the smallest player on the ice....and after that he took a couple more body checks and a puck in the back of the shin....he started shying away from the play.

It was a big eye opener for him, but I think he will give it another try (get back up on that horse).

Sunday, they both played at the same time...I went with R-dog, DH went with Cman....R-dogs game was really unusually rough and we ended up losing 4-3. Our team was short 4 players and we were at the Civic Centre...so the kids were exhausted.

C-mans game went good...he played his best friends team and got his 3 goals (actually scored 4...but they dont let you count it ).....

Then we watched the Rider game...and what a game it was !!! Quite a weekend full of activity...now to get some work done!!

Thursday, November 15, 2007

hockey hockey hockey

Retzky had a practise with the Atom team tonight. Body contact drills and all..yahoo..

DH said he did really well, and they asked him to come and join them in a tourney this weekend.

So, he will play with his novice team saturday am, then off to Unity for the afternoon.....C-man also plays saturday am...

Two games on the schedule for sunday as well......it begins...

new 'do

Ok..learned a few things doing this. 1) Dont like my pic being taken 2) DH only likes to take pictures of cleavage (hence the blanket) 3) Could not be a model...

Biggar and Better?

Today was a good day for DH. And a bad day. huh? you say...

He was laid off. boo.

He got to put his "temporary" home to Biggar. Very exciting news - yeah!! He is hoping to make a ridiculous amount of money there.

And I shall spend it.

My Rider claim to fame

Go Riders Go!!

I know them, you know. I have been really really close to them. I have been on the field while they were playing. Could smell the sweat...thats how close.

Embarrassing story....and one I'm sure you've heard before.

I was moving to Regina for work, and using Uncle Tits truck to haul some stuff down. They still had season tickets and after helping me move, ventured over to the game (without me ..boo hoo)

After they left, I searched for keys to my car and the apartment...could not find anywhere. I was locked out of my apartment and did not know a soul in Regina. Panicked.

So, I did what any rational 20-something would do and drove Uncle Tits standard down to the game. Then, realizing they wouldnt let me in without a ticket, put on the waterworks. I was desperate to see the boys to get my keys back. Crying hysterically, the front gate employees let me in, looked up his season tickets and found his seat for me.

From there, I got to stand by the time keepers bench,,,right next to the roughies. When there was a stoppage in play, they ran me across the field. Literally...right down the 50 yard line.

In the meantime, they were calling DH's name on the loudspeaker....he had no idea what the hell was going on and thought he had too many beverages.

When we were reuntied at last, I asked him for my damn key back...he searched everywhere and did not find them. So, I searched again and found them in my jeans pocket.

EMBARRASSING....but I know my crying ability can get me in the stadium.....might have to fly to BC to see if it works there...

Go Riders Go!!!

Are you ready to RUMBLE?

Retzky proud as punch last night...did not sleep a wink.

Got a call from the Atom coach to come and play "up". There was a little boy that just broke his arm (from a hit) and they need him available to play.

Very excited little guy.

Mommy...not so much. The coach asked if I had any concerns...and I didnt think so....until he told me about severed bones and all the things that can happen in hitting. making me a teeny nervous.

DH tells me because he is so stringy that he wont be hurting anything....we'll hope he's more like ragedy andy.....

apparently dont get out enough...

Tonight was a good night for me.

I got to go out for an evening. Dressed up, new do. Really great supper all for a good cause.

But, apparently dont do this enough.

Had "cat calls" from my boyz. "You look hot, mommy." from the younger one... "Are you going on a first date, Mom? Are you gonna kiss??" from the older one...

Thanks, but no. Daddy is playing hockey...and I am not going on a date with anyone else.

Need to get out more.

have I told you how much I love you?

Beautiful beautiful house. I must not have told you lately how much I loooovvee you. With all the talk about unfinished business, I havent told you that I love you lately. I'm sorry.

Yesterday, the boys were able to walk across the street from our beautiful house, with sled in hands and the sledded for over 1.5 hours....had a blast.

Then, last night as we watched the Riders win...sitting in our beautiful house we saw two beautiful deer stroll right by.....

Yesterday morning we had two beautiful blue jays perch on our deck. And even though I despise birds, it was a sight to see. Unfortunatley probably looking for the amazing previous home owner giving them gifts of seeds...and found none. But, for this year it was nice to have them stop by.

This is the week that we will be finished the upstairs...I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

so sorry

To my legions of adoring fans..(???) I apologize for the mia postings.

GD Flu bug kept me down. Nasty bug...stay away from the light kinda bug.

Soo,,,,we are back now full force.

Retzky had a game saturday am...early bird special. Played probably as good as we have seen him play. Got his three goals on offense....and got to play forward for 3/4 of the game. Hustled his little tush on defense and played very well. He ended up getting supersport of the game and was pretty proud of himself.

C-mans game was cancelled as the zambonie is down. But, did get some exciting news. He has been asked to be "affiliated". (which basically means play up a division if the team is short). We were told at the beginning of the year that this wouldnt happen as he has another full year in initiation (and its supposed to be reserved for kids in their last year). They have made an exception, and the novice coach has told him he is welcome to come to every practise. WOW!! The boys will get to play on the same team...their only time. Pretty exciting.

okay...will post more later...dont want this to be too long.....ttyl

pics from the partay

With ten boys, thought it might get a little crazee...but it didnt. They seemed to really enjoy it. Our boys asked if they could join the league...every thursday. I told them we had to wait a few more years...but its pretty cheap to rent a sheet of ice here in town, so we might just go out and have a friendly family game....????

I'm baacckk

About 1/2 hour after Retzkys bday on saturday...I fell ill. No...not to alcohol. No...not to my cooking.....No....not to anything other than a flu bug. Nasty dirty little bug.

So...today (tuesday) is the first day I have ate real food. First day I spent out of bed. First day I have been able to update blog.

Thank goodness for Gladys aka mom who came to help me with the boys, laundry, cooking, groceries etc etc. She's the bestest.

Countertops just arrived...so I will post more tomorrow when there is more progress and I will post some bday pictures as well..

Maybe tomorrow I'll feel like 30 bucks.

hockey update

C-man was to have a game last night. Missed again. Coughing way too hard...ridiculous !!! (whole other storey)

Retzky played this morning. First time ever got to play forward for the whole game. He got one goal. Had a couple of great assists and passes. Looked a little confused out there. Last year he played probably about 90% as defence, so he needs to think a little harder.

This coach thinks that he will play everyplayer every position...so he will get better.

Unfortunately they lost 6-3. Was a pretty close game until about 5 minutes left...we ran out of steam apparently.

Now...we are off to the curling rink???? Retzkys party...10 boys and I am feeling under the weather....thank goodness I had enough sense not to have it here at home....wish me luck!!

another day, another delay

Originally countertops were to be here Tues/Weds.

Tuesday comes, not in.
Weds same thing. And so on and so on and so on (hated that commercial in the 80's!!)

So...for sure Friday (I'm also getting used to that). Still no freakin kitchen!!!

Now they tell me MONDAY AFTERNOON for sure!!!! We'll see....damn the man!!! Must have kitchen....really have the urge to cook...hahahahhaahhahahaha

Halloween goblins

R-dog was my scary vampire. C-man was my pirate...aka Jack Sparrow. The oldest made it all night trick or treating with his dad. The younger one made it about 4 houses before the cold air on his lungs made him start hacking like an old man smoker. So, he helped me hand out candy to about 20 kids. (not the 200 I was expecting??...candy anyone??)

RETZKYS BDAY

Sorry - didnt have a chance to post yesterday as we were too busy celebrating Retzkys big 8th birthday.

Phone calls from relatives and friends, opening presents and eating halloween candy filled the day. (oh yeah...and school and hockey practise)

Basically...overall good fun. We are having the big Par-tay on saturday. Hopefully we will get to see all of the Rider game before it starts at 4:30. He decided himself that he wanted to try curling this year...???? So for an hour we will give it a shot!!!

Happy birthday, buddy!!!

sleepless night

Ok..Velvis...not what you are thinking...we were up at least 4 times each last night.

Me, with C-man and his hacking cough. Until at 4:45 I went and grabbed the vicks rub and massaged his feet with it....and it worked ....yeah!!!

DH, with the damn f$@#ing dog!!! For some reason she had to whine and wimper all night as well. DH not happy as he had a very long past few days with work.

So, today, my to-do list is again very big. Plus, I wanted to go into work for a bit...not looking promising. Have not yet got a bday present for R-dog (big number 8 tomorrow!!!) Still havent got enough halloween candy....cant have it in the house too early, or it disappears.

Had ma and pa stay the night last night and put them to work again....today we should have the remaining upper cabinets put up......

to-do lists

They are really getting out of hand. I make lists for just about everything. Now, I have to make lists to find the lists I wrote earlier in the day.

DH wont do anything until I write him a list.

Now...I have to start for the boys. Here is the list for them to follow by 8:15

1) Get dressed (make sure you have underwear on)
2) Eat breakfast
3) Brush teeth and wash face
4) Get backpack ready and by the door
5) Have lunchkit ready

We have to implement the above list for tomorrow, cause this morning Retzky missed the bus. Too busy staring at the flat screen...could not function....he was mesmerized. (Sorta like his daddy).

Gotta go make more lists...have lots to accomplish today.

update...

Ok..took pictures...cant find cord to computer to update photos...so you're gonna have to trust me....

things are looking gooood.

The hardwood (Brazilian Cherry wood) is now down completely upstairs. (There are two boxes left over which we cant return...nice time to find this out)...so if anyone is needing about 100 sq feet (i think) of beautiful wood let me know...

Mr R has put down mouldings for the upstairs, minus the kitchen. Looks mah-velous. Really marvelous. I think we might actually move the two couches upstairs today or tomorrow....yeah!!!

Bathroom tiles are down with grout...now just need to be grouted inbetween. I am pretty sure whiney overpriced boy is going to get fired. Bad mouthing us behind our backs (twice) and catching him is a no no. I dont think I will let him back in our house. Maybe...I will whine enough for crazy cousins to come for the weekend??? This time we will have spaces and smiles for everybody!!!

Should have kitchen cupboards early next week, and should have remaining appliances then as well.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that by Nov 3rd we will be living in our upstairs....!!!!

I wish I could show you...guess you're gonna have to come and see for yourself.

time flies...

Wow. Holy. Amazing. Incredible.

Time flies when you are fighting constantly...I mean having fun. hahahah

As of tomorrow, it will be 10 years of wedded bliss for the two of us. aaahhhh its been one big long honeymoon. (except not as much you know what).

We were married in Saskatoon in a little church in Montgomery place. It was a beautiful sunny day (not a drop of snow then either) and then we packed a hall with 350+ of our closest friends and family and partied like it was 1999 (it was 1997, though).

For those that were with us....it was great fun. For those that we have met since, we should do it again...Maybe without the dress, hall, catering and church. Just the dancing and boozing.

Sound like a good idea??

learning curve

So far, in this reno experience, we have learned a few things.

1) We can all get along in a 10x12 space (so, we'll probably sell this place right away and buy something about 500 sq feet...thats all we really need)

2) People dont always mean what they say

3) Everything takes 2 weeks longer than anticipated.

4) Dishes dont hold up well on the washing machine during spin cycle.

5) I hate doing dishes....must get dishwasher soon. (see #3)

6) No marriage counselling needed yet...beer seems to be doing the trick.

7) Kids dont do well in a shower....in our new 500 sq foot house, must have tub.

8) No curtains, means no nooky. DH is saying we need to get curtains today.

9) We love love love the river.

quick trip

Had a quick trip to Toon town yesterday...Thelma and Louise style. (not quite)

Had to deliver apples, see a priest and buy a huge tv. (Not in that order,,,,)

Got to visit some friends, some family, some babies...and spent way too much money. waaaayyyy

Today...Retzky is going to take a body checking clinic in the morning, and on ice training this afternoon. DH and C-man are going to head out to the cabin to make sure the boat and cabin are winterized.

Tomorrow....our awesome electrical buddy is coming out to help us for the day (he doesnt know how much shit we have for him to do!!)

Then Monday, DH is headed for Stoon (laid off here in NB again...)

i'm sooo bad

I woke up with a giggle this morning, a bit of a perkiness almost.

Giddy with the knowledge that DH was going to fire a contractor that just wasn't "cutting it". Good ol reliable contractor #1 was going to do the full job.

Damnit if he doesnt show up today bitching about other things....

Feel blood pressure mounting....

health

Ok...lately I've had a one track mind. I apologize.

There are way bigger things in life to deal with.

We have a lot of loved ones, both family and friends that are sick right now....and I just want to say that we are thinking of you all.

There is nothing in life if you dont have your health...so tonight...tip your glasses (bottles) and drink to it!!

is it thursday already?

This week has flown by. really.

Yesterday, it felt like xmas and my birthday all wrapped up in one. We have had our contractor here since monday. He taught DH how to put down the hardwood. Hardwood is now approx 1/2 complete. While he was doing that, contractor was working on kitchen cupboards...should have all bottoms down today to order the countertop. Yeah!!

PLUS (big bonus) we are probably firing bathroom contractor. Like, leaving tools on front lawn firing. Promises, promises....just no follow through. And the contractor that is here, said he would do it all. Yeah!!!

PLUS (another big bonus) ...sale proceeds from the house came!!! Yeah!!! Dont have two mortgages anymore....plus have a little spending moola....always nice.

Retzky got his team picked tuesday night. They are the Ducks. There are 3 kids on the team that he already knows, so that is good. C-man should hear today what team he will play for. Both will practise with their teams on the weekend.

May be coming in to the city on friday with a friend. Must deliver apples, before they are all gone (yeah, right!!) Also, having Costco withdrawal.

Sunday...TGIM??

No...definitely no TGIM...but the weekend did not produce what I assumed would get done. Naive little woman I am. Learning to become a bitter, stressed out crank. slowly.

Okay...C-man is on the mend again...no more throwing up today, but laid on the couch all day, with two big naps, then off to bed at 7:30. He missed hockey at 9am, but we managed to get R-dog to the rink on time (sorta) for 1:00.

Got invited out to a friends for supper, but alas, had to decline. Did not want to spread the wrath of the "puke bugs" on to another family. So, we had bbq smokies and carrot sticks.

Three large boxes of apples are in C-mans room,,,the kids have been going to town on the others boxes for a couple of days...think I will sneak some of our apples in to the families boxes....they could always use more, right?

Thanks to all who bought magazines from the boys...it was a good selling year for them, with 9 subscriptions...they get a Nintendo Wii!!! (thats what they are thinking, so we let them believe it)

Tomorrow...prepping the floor for hardwood, priming the main bathroom and some other shtuff we have been putting off. I will go into work in the am, but be a mad woman after lunch.

Big plans.

in the midst of chaos...

Ok...not having a very good day today. I am extremely grouchy/sensitive/tired. I thought I had this stress thing cased. Apparently not.

Crazy Cuzin came today to do tile...thank you thank you....apparently I should have done my whole upstairs in tile, then we could be done!! Great family....unfortunately as we are living out of the basement, had to feed everybody on small appetizer plates....and not very gourmet. oh well.

I felt useless today as the minor electrical I was doing, is almost done and I couldnt figure the rest out.

Poor Syd chased after some boys on the street for fun....not getting much attention still and the fence wont be done until probably tuesday.

Then...poor C-man just projectile vomitted all over the basement (our only real living space). Good thing we hadnt replaced that carpet yet. We'll put that on the list....

Tomorrow will be brighter...I know it....just today was a struggle.....

(oh yeah...showered in the barney bathroom...quite a treat)

Virgin voyage

I like to say virgin...reminds me of my late twenties ....hmmm

Anywhoo...we are officially spending the first night in our beautiful new home...I mean beautiful new basement (well old basement).

We are here!! We are in....along with all our furniture in a 10x12 space....no kitchen, no bathroom, no flooring...but what the hell!! Its an experience.

Thanks to ma and pa tractor and another awesome buddy...Mr. Hands we'll call him.....that helped DH haul heavy shit all day long.

Computer is up and running and so is the phone....so dont be shy.....

couple more

The reason we bought the place...the view is awesome.

R-dogs room...we're calling it army blue...???

pics - updates

DH with masterful skill, putting together the kitchen cupboards and the bathroom vanity.
Our bedroom color....rusty nail.
C-mans bedroom...we're calling it army green.
Living and dining room....its some kinda "sage".

They dont make colors like dark green, or light blue anymore....

not stressing

Okay..I've given up stressin out.

We are moving to the new place on thursday. We will not have a kitchen. We will not having flooring. We will probably not have a bathroom.

Oh well. There are worse things. We will find paper plates - we will have a fridge and stove. We can live on wood. We can relieve ourselves outside. Neighbors wont mind.

Now....we are off to take a trailer load full to the new place.

Monday, October 08, 2007

you've got to be shitting me

Hey yall....hope there was plenty of turkey to be had this past weekend.

We were packing and painting, but still managed to get fed...it helps when you linger long enough at friends houses!!

I have been trying to pack/throw things out now for awhile and really...how much can you accumulate in less than 4 years? Apparently plenty. More than plenty. And when we are losing square footage...not sure where the hell its all gonna go.

So far, there is one bedroom downstairs that is about 80% capacity right now...it needs to hold a hell of a lot more until things get settled upstairs.

We are now in limbo mode...sorta waiting on some professional help...and hopefully it happens quick...or else we could be eating take out and showering at friends and neighbors ....or maybe at the rink???

The next two weeks could be interesting...

Happy Thanksgiving from the shut-ins

Watch out for next year...we are going to celebrate Thanksgiving like there is no tomorrow....but this year ....we are sunk in a pile of paint, doors, flooring, moving boxes etc.

We do want to thank everybody who has been helping us, it has been tremendous.

You will see us again someday...I promise. Someday soon, I hope.

update

On the construction front.

Carpet layers came in today and have finished half. They will be done tomorrow early afternoon. (We started bringing things in to the completed rooms tonight)

Painted master bedroom the most hideous color I have ever witnessed (I am calling it Pepto Bismal Blue). Must repaint.

Started to prime the drywall in the living room...ran out of paint about 3 feet remaining. Will do second coat tomorrow. Must have upstairs completely painted by Monday.

Good thing, I have my sensei...master fussy bitch to the rescue. He is going to come in friday/sat/sunday for me....yeah!!!

Shingler coming in tomorrow afternoon and hopefully bathroom dude.

One week until move in day....but whose counting?

Cant get phone to wokr

Okay..since technology isnt our forte....I will have to tell you the goodies left behind in our new palace for us to find (not show you)

First - we take a tour around the home to find three scary looking clown/court jester thingys hanging from the wall. I am sure they were staring at us. (Sorta reminded me of Chuckie)

Second - I find a pail full of bird seed, with the words written "Please feed MY birds" (for those that know me well, my paranoia of birds is obsessive...also reminds me of another movie....you know that Hitchcock one)

And third - (hopefully the final) The boys were removing the bathroom vanity, when one found a margarine container. They opened it to find THREE pairs of false teeth. Yes, I said FALSE TEETH. Gross...GROSS.....and no...I have no idea what happened to them, which scares me to death!!! (this is where the picture could have come in handy.)

RIP

I hope our 30+ year friendship can handle this loss.

We searched and searched and finally found it.

The "holy grail" of painting.

Crazy mamas brush has been found, and it wasnt pretty. Poor thing had to take a dive into the Loraas bin.

Sorry wont be good enough...i know....

Please forgive me.

Tuesday, October 02, 2007

so sorry

I know, I havent posted in awhile..again this house is sucking every last bit of energy from me.

I was hoping to have it all painted this past weekend, but it didnt happen. One step forward...two back sorta thing.

The bathroom is currently being worked on...and now we had to hire the plumber to do some quick (not) changes in the kitchen plumbing. unexpected.

Carpet should be installed thursday/friday. Shingles saturday. Fence this week.

Next week...mad dash to try and get stuff moved.

Friday, September 28, 2007

wow

Thats all I can say. Wow. What a week. Longest week of holidays I have ever had. But, very productive. This week has been both a challenge and a reward.

First off, I have to say we have amazing friends and family. We could never have done what we did this past week without them...for sure. (There is one couple that has been there EVERY day....another I know would be here if she could get away again)

By the end of this weekend, we should have the whole upstairs (minus some new drywall) primed and painted. (Ok except for maybe doors and trim....ever so minor).

Auntie Velvis came in for us BIG TIME.....she stood in a line at IKEA for 3 hours and delivered our base cabinets to the house tonight. HUGE....saved me a trip, plus she is going to watch the boys tomorrow and get them to hockey while I am TSP'ing, priming and painting. She also did some laundry for me tonight and she said she would make supper tomorrow. Amazing.

I think next week she will get our upper cabinets and pulls and deliver them to K-town and I will get them from there.

We are hoping the bathroom guy comes in this weekend and gets started (the only thing we have yet to get is a vanity....this too will come.

Tomorrow...our karaoke-happy lake friend is coming to help for the day. It will be great fun. Thanks for all your thoughts and kind words.....like "What the hell were you thinking?"

HAPPY BDAY AUNTIE DALLY!!

Happy birthday to you!! Hope you are having a good one!! Enjoy that nice girls night out...I am soo jealous!!

On the plus note...OUR HOUSE IS OFFICIALLY SOLD!!! YEAH!! Break out the champagne...or in our case A5-35.

Today, we managed to get almost all of the wallpaper down upstairs. (There was a lot of freakin wall paper), about half of the kitchen cupboards went down. The tiles in the tub came off, as well as some of my hedges and some of my trees all went bye bye.

I had some awesome friends come by (again!! thank you thank you) and one of them did some minor electrical for me....so tomorrow I think all three bedrooms should be able to be painted. The ceilings first...with oil based paint over the popcorn.

I have to babysit one tomorrow, so until my recruits get there tomorrow night, could be slow moving day. But tomorrow night and thursday are going to be big big days for me. My bestest buddy...crazy mama is coming up for the night...rock on!!

I am off to pick some colors and get lunches packed!! Take care...

Monday, September 24, 2007

long short day

Yeah!! Got into our new (old) home today at about 1ish.

From 1:30 til now we worked our tails off....sorta.

For the first two hours it was just the two girls. We managed to rip the carpets out of three bedrooms and the main bath. We pulled all the doors and closet doors off and managed to get the wall paper off the main bathroom. Plus, all the lovely curtains and curtain rods came down.

Then, her hubby joined us and he got the panel boards off the main bedroom, and the living room. The remaining carpet got pulled up as well as part of the cabinets went downstairs.

We invited ourselves over to their place for supper (the homeinspector guy was at our other house).....ok we brought over a crockpot of ribs mom...dont get mad!! Then DH joined us along with some friends and currently they are ripping out tile in the bathroom and taking down wall paper in the hallway.

Really productive day/night. I will have pictures tomorrow ...if I remember the camera.

Tomorrow...have to bash heads with the flooring guy, talk to the paint store and start cutting trees down!!! Yay!!

Day 1 went without a hitch. As DH would say....it was meant to be.

maybe, maybe not

Okay...today is possession day. Should be sometime around noonish.

C-man and myself will head over and start the work, until DH gets back from Vermilion.

There could be a lapse in my posts for the next week or so....might be a tad busy.

Also, today is the day our house gets its home inspection. So, keep your collective fingers crossed. We should hear tomorrow if everything is officially sold.

The secret unravelled

Since my earliest memories, I can remember not being able to keep a secret. Nor, did I like others to have secrets from me.

Like at christmas time, I would search the house up and down for presents. Mostly, I would find them in the bottom of moms closet. And I would always make sure they were left the same way as I found them.

Also, I loved the "party line". We could eavesdrop on our neighbors conversations and get all the gossip.

I think we come from a long line of this. My grandma (god rest her soul) was an amazing woman. Loved her to pieces. She used to sit at her kitchen table and look out the window at who was coming and going at school together. She could get that gossip wheel turning. love it!!

Now...the mystery of k-girl has been driving me (and seester Dally) absolutely CRAZY. I think I have asked just about everybody I know (twice) and nobody would reveal the secret. What made it worse, is that my sister Velvis knew. She did not reveal the secret.

Tonight....it was revealed to me. Aaahhhh...sweet satisfaction.

oh yeah...I'm not gonna tell Dally....see if it drives her crazy also!!

ps...Just as a side note...I can now keep secrets. Really. Newfie...if you are reading this IT IS NOT A JOKE....just ask my hubby (aka the vault).

Welcome

Hello! Welcome to our diary. Little snippets from our day ....here in Southtown. Enjoy.
