The end and the beginning

Retzky had his final game in the provincial Bantam A series this past weekend.  They had a 10 minute brain fart in the first game of a two game total point which was really too bad.

Especially since they could have beat them.  This past game they were up 4-2 (Retzky had 3!) when we pulled the goalie to see if we could make up some of the deficit from the previous game.

No such luck - it ended in a tie.  Runners up to Yorkton for his second time.

He had a good year though...so I guess there is lots to be proud of.

Now on to football and baseball for him.  Football and golf for C-man!

March Madness

Both the beautiful lady in the centre of the top photograph and the handsome young man in the background of the second photo had MILESTONE birthdays in March.  One turned 29, the other 30.  And, no, I wont say which one is which.

I will say that my pappy is wonderfully kind, generous and loving.  He has been my rock, my sounding board and my go-to guy.  He is Grandpa Tractor to my boys and we love you  Happy Bday Dad.

Grandma Golfer also had her spring birthday on the day Mother Nature decided to have a little fun with us.  We celebrated a little early with a nice family get together and a great family pic (thanks lynds!)  She has a lot of the same characteristics as my pops.....maybe its in the sign?....but we are glad that she is a figher and gives us everything she's got.

LOVE YOU TWO to the MOON and BACK.  Happy Birthdays!!

Where did we go wrong?

For much of my younger days, I played a sport of one kind or another.  Loved every minute of every sport I played.  (At least thats how I am choosing to remember it).  Unfortunately I had a bit of a poo poo attitude when it came to losing.  Ok - I was a bear.  For hours....well, maybe days if it was a big game.

I didnt know DH back "in the day"...but I did know him when he played Sr hockey....and he wasnt much fun to be around after a big loss either.

So - for some reason - that genetic has skipped a generation.

For example.  C-mans team loses the A-semi in a big, year end tournament this past weekend.  One we expected to do very well at.  He walks out of the dressing room with a smile and asks "whats for lunch?".  The nerve.

Retzkys team lost out in league playoffs.  No moping, crying, swearing or fighting.  The gall.

I dont know where we went wrong....but I am aiming to correct it.

Hoping not to correct it this year however as Retzkys team has one last kick at the can.  They play Yorkton in the provincial finals.  I believe sunday in Yorkton and next weekend back home.  Fingers crossed!

He's going to the provincial final

Retzkys team won the series 9-4 against Warman last night.  He was under the weather (for the 4th time this winter!!)....we let him stay home today to recover.  He slept until almost 1.  Must have needed it.

Now we play the winner of Yorkton and Estevan.  Either way...long trip!

We are pretty pumped for him.  This is his second trip to the provincial final - hoping for a better result this time around.....

Update on hockey

If all goes according to plan - we could be done hockey this week.  Ok - It might be my plan and not the boys....(insert evil laugh here)....but the end is nigh....

Retzky made it past the first round of playoffs in his league, for might be the very first time ever.  LOL. They now will play, in my opinion, one of the toughest teams.  They were ranked first.  We beat them one game, and lost (by a whole bunch) the second game.  We play them saturday and sunday.   He also plays with his provincial team tuesday and thursday for his first round.  They will play Warman, who I know nothing about.  Not sure what will happen there as we lost 2 d-men to the broken bones courtesy of our local ski hill.  Fingers crossed...

C-man is off to his final tourney of the year in the big city.  Friday Saturday Sunday and then we are done.  Done like dinner.  (Well except to start again in April)

Both boys have talked about joining tackle football again in the spring....and we are still trying to encourage them to play ball as well....could be busy.  But, at least we wont have hockey for a few weeks!

The feeding bag

I tricked all of you into thinking that this blog would be back up and running consistently, didnt I?

Well, instead I have been trying to feed my two very hungry boys.  Non-stop.  Not kidding.

Last week on numerous occasions one of them had 6 grilled cheese for his "after school snack"....and by 5:30 was doubled over in pain from hunger.  Really?  yes, really.

I am sure there are a few that can appreciate was pre-teen boys eat....and I really am not looking forward to see what they will consume as teenagers.

I have asked around to see if I would be a crazy parent to purchase a lock for the cabinet.  Only to lock away things that are needed for their school lunches.  (you know....the only "real" food.  like granola bars, fruit cups, beef jerky).  A box of 72 granola bars - gone in 3 days flat.  A box of ritz crackers (the biggest you can buy) - will barely last two days.  I cant even purchase chips or pop without expecting it to be gone before its unpacked.

So far, I havent purchased that lock - but if you are wondering where my hard earned money goes - its down their gullets.

If you are baking, prepping or cooking....please consider having my boys over.  Cause tonight, we're down to canned goods.

Welcome
