Ok...here goes....
In between my boss being gone (giving me FULL responsibility...not good), and DH being gone all week. I have been a single mama working like a dog. And in between work, I have been eating every thing in sight (stress eat, much?)
Which, doesnt leave a lot of time to type up something interesting.
This past weekend was C-mans hockey tourney here in town. Their team played really really well...but didnt show it on the score board. They won their first game against Stoon. 3-2 (C got all three goals). They lost their second game 5-3 (C-got the three goals) to Kindersly. Then we ended up in the B-side.
The next game was a great one to watch. We were tied 5-5 with two minutes left - to a really good Lloydminster team. We ended up losing 7-5. (C got his 3 goals with that one as well)...but our team played incredible...and thats all you can ask for. This lloyd team ended up winning the B side - so we held our own.
R-dogs team played in Dodsland and got whooped...then their game sunday was cancelled due to poor driving conditions.
So...hockey, visiting with some "old" Stoon buddies, having a small soiree and listening to a great musical show, has been keeping us busy as well.
The next three weeks could be fun. And when I say fun, I mean potential for disaster, as DH will be out of town the majority of the time. (But with weekends off, its hard to say no to.)
Thats what we are up to in a nutshell....how 'bout you?

fire...
Last week we heard of the fire that destroyed the Kindersley rink. Devastating.
I have to admit that when I heard of other towns losing their rinks to fire, it was upsetting, but knowing this rink and the people from this town, it has really made me think.
For some of the families this was their social life, their babysitter, their recreational activity, their coffee spot, their religion.
Going from being there everyday, to not having it at all would be extremely difficult. For any of you who have active children you know what its like not to have them work off their energy in a positive way.
The worst part, I would think, is the memorabilia that has been lost. The trophies, banners, pictures - memories.
I know that the town has great volunteers, and tremendous spirt. They will get past this. In the mean time...could you go on to www.cbc.ca/hockeyville
They could use your vote.

back off...get your own sandwich!!
The mood has been a little icy around here the last couple of days. Not sure whats up...but I thought tonight I should practise some deep breathing and yoga...so I did 1hr on the treadmill, then another 1/2 hour on wii fit (mostly yoga and deep breathing). This is after 1 hour at the gym at lunch time...
Please tell me this will work..
Or...tell my family that this will work.
I thought a break from hockey this weekend and two full days cleaning would do the trick....It definitely makes me feel more rested...but unfortunately that rested up my lungs for some good ol yelling...when the kids didnt do as they were told (7000 times!!)
Tomorrow is a new day. The weather has been beautiful, our branch is closed and the Olympic Torch is coming to town.....

hockey results
Hey..for the grandparents that need the updates.
R-dogs was a complete wash...not nice. We won something like 14-2 (we didnt put the score up on the clock..so not 100% sure on that one). Today he is in Dalmeny at 12:30
C-mans tourney in Dodsland was fun. But not so good for the wins. Lost to Dodsland 14-7 (think he got 6 goals), then lost to Kindersley 15-5 (he got 5). Went to the C-final against Rosetown and went to a shootout. We won!! He got a hustler award which he was pretty excited about.
Today - no hockey for him. He gets to help me finish cleaning!! Lucky man.

this week is gonna be the death of me...
Maunday - went back to the gym. thought I was going to die. Instead have lingering pain from my long absence. kids at home with sitter while I slaved away. (ie tried to remember how to do my job after being gone for so long)
Tuesday - couldnt find sitter, so instead tortured myself with two other children at the house (ie the other two boys very well behaved, my two decide to push all my buttons). no time for gym, so instead I get on treadmill and try to run. and by that I mean try to stay focused on breathing and not passing out. DH gone to Stoon for work school....I get to sit in the freezing cold rink with extra grouchy people.
Today - back to work. Back to school!!!!!! Informed that C-man "HAS" to take treats for his birthday. told him to tell teacher friday. if she is lucky. dont make me say a bad word. get to sit through a 1.5 meeting listening to the same people say the same things over and over and over. good gawdddd shut up. (oh yeah...remember my resolutions). did not make it to the gym, now will have to do double time tomorrow. if i can get out of bed.
not sure what the rest of the week holds...but I am going to read my "secret of happiness" book to help me through it....
gotta love hump days

C-man is playing in town friday night, down to Dodsland saturday (so far all I know is 9:30am...I should know more tonight).

we're like the energizer bunnies...
The 30th brought our lake friends for a visit. Originally planned we were to meet at the ski hill...but the weather was a bit too nippy. So, instead the kids went sledding and skating (in our back yard) while the parents drank and ate and visited!!
Oh yes...and drunk dialed and laughed.....
It was great to see them as we dont get the chance too often....we celebrated DH's birthday and had a great visit.
Unfortunately the week (or two) of drinking and eating caught up to us and we ended the night fairly early.....we will make it up to them...haha!!
still going...
After the World Junior game, we had a split shift.
DH and C-man went to Langham for a couple of ice times and met up with some friends we havent seen in awhile...and I got to go to Shellbrook with R-dog.
The game was a complete blowout (unfortunately) as it started out good with a 1-0 lead for us. We ended up winning something like 15-0. They are coming back here to play us this weekend, but are going to have 4 or 5 of their best players that were missing...hopefully its more of a game.
After that, we headed out to Hafford for the big feast. We were gathered to join in perogies, cabbage rolls, fresh sausage and about 40 other decadent items.
All FRESH....delicious!!! Great way for the team to bond, and we ended up staying until the wee hours of the morning..at this point I didnt know how much more drinking and eating I could take!!
