lost in a sea of drywall dust...

As I am typing this, I am wondering....what in the hell were we thinking? AGAIN?

I have the first coat of paint on the walls, the ceilings are done, and the new carpet looks awesome. Now just the second coat of paint, the tile in the entrance and to paint the doors.

baby steps.

And of course, it has to be right in the middle of hockey, crazy work schedules (where the heck is DH you ask...most likely Watrous...arrrgghhh), and and and...

C-man had his hockey tourney last weekend and after all was said and done, he was really super disappointed.

Retzky has to reff tomorrow morning, and play two games...which should make up for him missing his tourney in Paradise Hill today....

In between hockey schedules, I am hoping to get the rest of the painting finished and some dust wiped up....oh the fun of renos....pictures soon!!

hockey weekend

Two tourneys for the boys. Lots of basement work for me (in my spare time)

Retzky went to Neilburg and won 2 out of the 3 games. This was his provincial team, and I didnt get to see the games as I had to stay back and work my shifts. From the sounds of it, things got a little rough. Not sure I would have liked to have seen it....

C-mans team went 1-3. One of their games they played the best I have ever seen them play and lost 6-5 in a barn burner. He got his three goals every game, but it just wasnt enough. He really struggled with all the losing this weekend and is still having a hard time with the calibre....for him summer couldnt come fast enough!!

Me either!!!

My basement is all primed and the ceiling has been painted twice. Now, just to get the walls painted tonight so that my carpet can get installed tomorrow. Things are moving right along...

In order to avoid detection from anyone who previously knew me, I have, yet again, gone for another haircut.

Short(er) than I normally go.

Sears catalogue provided me with the inspiration and DH thought if I got the inspiration from there I would come home looking like a 70 year old woman wearing mom jeans.

It turned out pretty good.....

now just to go shopping for the mom jeans.

getting back on track...

Of course, after the holidays, we are trying to get back on track by eating smaller portions and getting back to the gym.

We both have been doing pretty good. We have lost a few pounds each, and are ready to ramp it up.

Yesterday at the gym, I decided after being away from them way too long, I would do squats, lunges, side lifts and butt tightener excercises until I couldnt do them any longer. No - not 10 reps or 15, but as many as I could do.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. I stretched like crazy afterwards, but barely made it back to the truck. You know when your legs feel like jello? Well, mine are jello. It was so bad, I had to take the elevator back up to the 2nd (yes, i said 2nd) floor at work.

Thats the first day....not a good sign!

Today, I managed to roll off the bed, and drag myself to the bathroom, where I contiplated just wetting myself as I couldnt get up, and definitely couldnt squat over the toilet. After much soul searching, I was able to do it. (i also woke the whole house up in screams of agony)

Second day...not much better....cant wait to see what tomorrow holds....

renos....

So we are at a new stage!! DH has been doing MAHvelous work....along with our handy dandy handydave. Its amazing what you can accomplish with a little money. HAHAHA

Today, the drywall is up, mudded and taped. The carpet is out!! (YAHOO) The ceiling is scraped of all the popcorn remnants - DH did it without me!! The archway is gone. And I now have a doorway to my laundryroom/furnace room.

So very close to paint and flooring ....wow...

And...where did we hide everything. All the furniture is upstairs...and the rest is in the bedroom downstairs....thank goodness we are giving some away....if anyone needs anything (like books, mirrors, ski boots, snowboarding boots etc etc....let me know!!)

hockey updates

Well we are in the final stages of winter hockey this year.

Retzky just finished the second tourney of his year and with about the same results as the first. Not good at all. He seems to put on a smiley face (but I think thats cause of the booth afterwards)...but not sure if he is loving all these shallackins'.

His provincial team hasnt had many practises or games, but we will meet up with Maidstone on friday night. 8:45-10:45 seriously?? Little past my bedtime, but I will try to stay awake...(haha...just about typed away....!!)

Chaser is not having a lot of fun either. He has met a few new kids, but he is (i think) the only 2nd year on the team, and isnt being challenged a whole heck of a lot. He hasnt any tournaments yet, but will have his first one next weekend here at home.

His team is headed into the city this weekend as they won free tickets to the Blades game. We were hoping to see Schenn in action, but it sounds like he will be out for a bit nursing a shoulder injury.....better luck next time.

He has been reffing quite a lot- he has learned two things.

1. He loves being paid!!

2. He hates being cold!!

The next round of renos is clearly on our way. We have our main man helping us again...he is the brains of the operation.....and my boys...well they did the smashing!!

xmas pahty-MJ kind

Over to the neighbors on xmas eve for some fun. We had a blast watching the new Michael Jackson wii game in action. Hilarious. Tons of fun and lots of excercise.

Tried to take a pic of Retzky in action, but he was shaking those hips like Elvis and it was hard to catch him....C-man was a little more concentrated on his swivel....gotta impress the girls you know!!

The (f)ugly sweater contest....hilarious...but heated. For us nearly menopause they were a little too much!! hahaha

There are more pix somewheres in this old computer...but now to find them. The boys had fun at the farm as usual. Quadding, skating (well almost) and playing hockey.

I volunteered to watch the little rock picker in the nice warm house...that was fun too!!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much delicious food. thanks for the hospitality and letting us invade your nice quiet home for a couple of days!!!

First off...thanks for the xmas card Mrs Thomas...although a real one would have been nice, I think my photo replica is just about perfect!! (hahaha...ok...it did come in the mail).

Second....holy cow....was that the best turkey I have ever eaten. Seriously! (i apologize now to anyone who takes offence...but holy moly....that was good turkey!!) They were definitely the hosts with the mosts...

We even managed to sneak in a little late night visit (even though i cramped dh's style, but dragging him home)...it was a blast!!!

Christmas #2 in the morning was at Grandma and Grandpa Golfers....lovely brunch....great company and the kids were so calm and relaxed. HAHAHAHAHA

They tore through their gifts, and any gifts that were remotely close...and loved every minute of it....
