After 3 weeks of falling off the bandwagon, I have jumped back on. and i need to do lots of jumping.
This morning, woke up a bit early (for me thats anything before 10 haaahaa) went for a run (on the treadmill as its not a pretty site to watch), ate ridiculously healthy and small portions.
After work, the family went for a bike tour (somewhere around 5kms) and I made it up the gruelling hill (that was my goal for the summer...now I guess i have to change it up a bit).
As Retzky was passing me up the hill he says "if you make it up mom, I'll give you a quarter!!" well the little bugger had to pay up.
tomorrow...noon hour walks begin....(as long as the sun is shining)

apparently needing to update...
The days have been getting longer, but I think they have been going by faster...does that make any sense?? not to me...but thats why I havent been updating. Cant keep up.
Ball has been going good, Retzky has been getting a little more confident. They lost their last game, and tonight after being down by 6 ended in a tie. (DH was there..he says its because their closer walked in 6 runs...ouch) At this age the pitching isnt the greatest, so there is a lot of walking or getting hit by pitches. Told the boys that they get pucks shot at the all the time in the back yard with no equipment, that the baseball is no different...."it only hurts for a second" seems to come to mind.
(Last game our pitcher hit a kid square in the melon...he didnt budge an eyelash...i think his parents talked to him too)
Tonight C just had practise...but they dont keep score of their games so not sure what to tell you,...they still have a pitching machine so no walks for you.
I was running errands most of the night, and on my way to the ball field saw a woman trip in a huge gopher hole and twist her leg pretty bad. She tried to call for help (but apparently the old man crossing couldnt hear)...I stopped to see if she needed help and ended up giving her and her two old dogs a ride home. (she is currently off work on a disability and scheduled for an mri on her back next week...not good...not good.)
Now...I am trying to clean before mom comes for a visit...and before my purse party on thursday night. (something like a spice/candle/sex toy party...except purses)....i know its a few days away, but I have to start now.
After that....book work for the hockey team and trying to figure s#!t out...

Monday....whew
Now...just about caught up from the weekend.
I forgot to mention...the boys were on the 6:00 News - Global and C-man had a close up of his name bar off his jersey....they were EXCITED!!
Okay..so after the big victory, we headed off to the lake. I drove (I tend to drive faster than DH....plus he was preparing himself mentally for the party) C-man was sleeping before we hit Langham...and the tunes were cranked.
Retzky stole a ride with the Fujis...so were were off.
The lake was fun...cold...and not quite as many people as previous years. But still fun. (even though seester pulled a "me" and snuck away for a quick sleep with the girls)...had a nice visit with Mrs Fuji, Dirty Bird (soon to be real cousin..aka...Mrs Rye and Coke) and our lake friends (I really need a nickname for them....)
Monday we had to head back quick as Retzky had a ball game. I sent the boys as it was FREEEZING out...plus I wanted to get started on the laundry.
They won their game handily and I missed Retzkys 1st HOMERUN!! boo...that I missed it....YEAH...that he got one.

We won the Gold Medal Game!!! The boys/parents/coaches were pumped!! After a nail-biting game,,,we pulled it off.
Congratulations!!! Our MVP won a flat screen tv....the kids won new hockey bags and gold medals....
Sooooo exciting!!
Not a minute later....we were off to the lake....DH was panting like a dog...to get him there...so off we went...

Saturday, we took over the bowling alley, and Bonanza...the kids and parents all had a blast.
Retzky had enough "team" stuff...so the Fujis took him along...and we are grateful!! (except for the missing ball glove!!! arrrgghhh...not the Fujis fault btw)
I missed most of the bowling as I had some running around to do...but made it to the game. Saturday we won as well...to this point now we were 3-0.

After the ear appointment gone awry, we hustled our fannies over to the rink, to pick up DH so that he could bring his dad over to watch our second game.
Meanwhile, I may have sped (a little) to take pictures of the boys LIMO RIDE!! I passed them on circle drive, and watched 3 or 4 heads and 5 or 6 arms hanging out the side...
Talked to the coach after wards (he could barely hear me)...he said the same tune was rocking at sound levels equal to a jet taking off..he thought the doors were going to blow off..!!
They had a blast!!

few days behind..
Well..DH made it home in time to run with me to the city Thursday night. Good thing, as I had to go to pick up our new digs for the hockey team (which was no easy task...after 45 minutes)...and then go to the rink to put together stuff for the tourney.
Again, no easy task, with the power out over 3 hours. Sorting clothes by candle light was a little tiny akward.
Made it back to GnD's to find that seester is doing a great job of keeping DH company...but couldnt really understand what they were talking about?? hmmm??
First game was 830 friday am...and we won! Had a few visitors out for the game...thanks for coming..Had to work a couple of shifts (which went quickly...as I had to run Retzky to the ear dr and our firefighting friend took over!! thank you thank you)
After 1 hour and 45 minutes (yes thats right) we finally got in to see the Dr...only to have him tell me a second time that his ear looked good....but maybe we need to come back in a few months to check it again. Really? You think I have nothing better to do than waste 3 hours of my life sitting in a cramped office for you to tell us his ear is still good. (its still good...its still good)....can you say money hungry??

Snopitch??
Nope...I wish...then there would be a big bucket of moose milk to drink...
instead it was Retzkys first ball game....and a wee bit chilly laddies...
I think they ended up winning....he had 3 or 4 at bats...too cold to count....and walked every time. I only saw the last two at bats - but he didnt even have anything to swing at...not one pitch even came close. He scored 3 times and was stranded on 3rd for the last out....pretty good for his first game.
C-mans was cancelled due to poor weather (or wimpy coaches!! hahaha)
I am up doing the books for the tourney this weekend in the big city...
I know I was supposed to text or phone or do something to some people about our schedule and really I cant remember who I was supposed to tell or what your dang email is...
So...here it is.
Friday 8:30 am and 2:30 pm at the Gemini
Saturday 3:30 at the ACT
Sunday 7:30 or 7:45 am and 3:30 or 3:45 pm at the Gemini

ball....
Tonight marked the first night of the kids ball season (officially)...even though they both were first up on the schedule for practises. (Both ages have an odd number of teams in the league..so one team is always the odd man out)
Retzky was hitting better tonight (anything was better after the last performance) and I think now its just getting him more confident. I was trying not to give him too much advice tonight and lay low (really hard for me...)...but I think I did pretty good.
C-man also had practise...and for the practise - they hit off a tee. (which i cant stand) And apparently he doesnt like too much either....
Both of them have games on wednesday and hopefully DH will make it (he, of course, got called to work late this afternoon again).
I will take some photos, and post them soon. real soon.

Love this couple- met playing ball - now our boys chase their girls (more like their girls tune the boys in!!) And hopefully can see them a lot at the lake.

Love these guys too....okay I love all our buds. Love her new brunette locks...Especially when I just have to show up and enjoy myself. The couple looked great (although no pictures!)..the band was incredible...and the midnight lunch...yummers...
BUT the best part - for sure - was visiting with old friends. Some of whom I havent seen in SOOOOO long. Its way too long inbetween visits. Sometimes we just have to "unbook the calendar" and come for a visit.

split personality.
Okay...tonight the boys had ball. Same time, different fields. Which, I guess, is how its going to be for ball season. Monday/Weds 6:30. different fields.
Not sure which is worse...last year we had soccer m/t/w/th nights...with no break.
I'll tell you when its over.
While I was at ball tonight...there were a few people talking about the spring hockey team that C-man is on. One was surprised he made it (ouch), the other was talking about the cost ($5000 was what they quoted), and then went on to bad mouth it.
Not that I havent heard it before...probably havent said it myself at one point.
There is one part of me that thinks "who gives a rats bottom what anyone else thinks", then there is the other part that is all tyed up in knots over what people think. yuck. I hate that part of parenting. You know the part where you second guess all your decisions....and everything anyone says goes straight to your guts.
yeeshhh...i definitely need to take up yoga....cause once hockey gets to be contact, I'm really gonna hear about it.....
I gotta take up yoga.

yep its spring alright.
Two bike rides in two days = 2 sore butt cheeks. seriously...have to get calloused up to keep up to these boys!!
Neighbor two doors down decides to burn his grass in the ditch today.....really?? really?? Not only is it the driest we have seen in years...but the wind was whistling.
My good neighbor to the north was telling me in the 40+ years he has lived here, has not seen the river this low, this early in the summer. Sand bars already. The heat has been here the last two days (not complaining...love the heat)...but hoping that we would get a few rain drops at night. Heat in the day - rain at night....is someone listening?? hope so.
Still havent got to the yard work-been a tad busy. Cant believe work. I think I said two months ago, it was soooo slow I wasnt sure what to do with myself. Well, i take that back. I have been working 12+ hours/ day and its not nearly enough. I did take friday off, and the last two days had to work from home...so hopefully tomorrow when we are working side by side we can get a WHOLE lot done.
Really will need to have a drink at Bubbas wedding...i hope we can get there!!! Retzky has a ball clinic from 3:30-5 and hopefully DH is off work...keep your fingies crossed.
ps....bizzymama....i know you're out there somewhere....we will hunt you down....sure missed seeing your sunshiney faces this weekend.

what we dont do for our children...
As my facebook mentioned...I missed the Montgomery Garage Sale this year....
Its also a year of morning as the family will not be going to the lake for the May Longweekend. (possibly Retzky...he's not sure yet)
We are hoping to make it up sunday night after C-mans last game.
He is playing in the City of Bridges tournament in the big city and we will be taking it in stride...hopefully having fun with family and a few friends that arent at a lake....boo hoo....
On the positive note...I did save a wee bit of money....ok...still mourning.

Ball season!!
Ok..now spring is really here!! Ball season has started !! Yeah!! (unfortunately not for me, again, as the kids play on the same nights as I would have).....
Retzky has a good couple of coaches and a few kids he knows, so it should be an interesting year.
This is the first time he has really played baseball....real baseball...hopefully its a good season. Already have to figure out whats going to happen as their league final is on the same weekend we go to the Peg for our final hockey tourney.
He was looking forward to the bus ride...but I'm sure he wont want to miss ball either...so now we need to figure that out...
C-man starts ball on wednesday night and their teams will get picked shortly after that. He had to start on his workout regiment today. At least 100 pucks shot, and lots of cardio and excercise. Today we basically just went for a long hilly bike ride...tomorrow more strenuous stuff.
No school today...now no school tomorrow, either. I think DH will be home - which is good because work has been extremely busy!! (also a good thing...job security??)
This weekend is a good buddies wedding...which I have forgot to reply to....(i dont know that we have ever replied to a wedding)...and we are hoping that DH can swing it off...it should be a gooder....and it will be nice to see everybody...

hockey weekend...
Okay...we had 6 games of really competitive hockey this weekend. It was fun and nerve wracking to watch.
We ended up with 3 wins, 1 tie and 2 losses. (we ended up 2nd in our pool after round robin) Unfortunately the losses came at the wrong time (in playoffs) so we ended up 4th over all.
The last two losses were heartbreaking and really could have went either way. The top 4 teams in our pool were all very close and really good games.
I dont have a lot of pictures...but hopefully will get some emailed to me.
I hope to get my hands on a couple of pictures of Todd Bertuzzi who was there watching his son on the Calgary team. (We tied this team in round robin with some of the harriest fans/coaches I have ever seen...i know hard to believe....then lost to them in the Bronze final)
We have learned a lot from this weekend and hope to improve for the next two.
Also got to visit with my sister and her hubby, a long lost roomy of DH's and some old friends from the city. We did a little bit of partying with the other parents...but definitely didnt get too out of hand (or at least I didnt!!)
Have a few really tired kids today-after all the hockey, swimming, football playing, running around at the hotel, chasing girls, playing soccer, you name it!!!
