was today monday?

Cause it sure felt like it.

First...the call to the Dr's office. Found out Retzky has some kind of growth on his ear drum. Not supposed to worry....sure its nothing....but have a referral to an ENT to be sure.....here we go again.

Second...the call to the principals office. Apparently issues with the same bully that has been causing problems for the last 3 years. The last time there were problems, we told the boys not to put up with it. Apparently C-man didnt put up with it. And hasnt been for awhile. Meanwhile, my peace and love little one hasnt done much. So...I will be driving them to and from school for the next little while. (all the problems happen at the bus stop with no supervision)

Third....the boss was a teeny tiny bit grouchy today. I think he feels lonely when I take a couple days off and misses me (even though it was for a funeral...)....or the amount of work that I do....either way...dont like grouchy bosses...so tonight I will be doing extra work.

And lastly...this damn head cold will not go away and I still sound like Barry White...not too sexy for a females voice...

So, if today wasnt Monday, well then tomorrow can only get better. Right? Right. ttyl

A big thank you to all of our wonderful wonderful friends.

Not long after posting about our lack of Vitamin D (and generally feeling sorry for ourselves)...the offers came pouring in.

From Mexico, to Vegas, to places we've heard about and never seen...the invitations were pouring in.

Unfortunately we cant take you up on them. There are a few stumbling blocks...namely....lack of holiday time, lack of free time (with hockey hockey hockey), lack of funds and lack of (did I say time?)

So...thank you thank you thank you....love you all....and maybe next year....

winding down

Its Saturday...and only two days left of the boys week long break. I'm sure they are thrilled to go back to school.

Here is a snapshot of what they did this week.

Played hockey on the outdoor rink, swam, sledding, never slept in, went bowling, had friends over, went to friends house, did a few crafts, went to powerskating, had hockey practise, went skidooing, and never slept in once.

I'm sure there is more...here is what I did.

Worked, blew my nose about 10,000 times in an effort to get rid of the congestion in my head, applied Vicks Vaporub about the same amount of time, bought groceries, cleaned the house, drove the kids to activities,had a pretty uneventful birthday and tried to squeeze in some more work.

Today I have to fulfill my volunteering obligation for the Heart and Stroke foundation and the family has agreed to come with me to ring on doorbells (nothing like leaving it until the last minute...so hopefully its not too cold today). Then have to organize and get ready to go to Edmonton for a few days.

Kids weekend...

Retzky told me that V-tines day was his BEST EVER....cause he got to play hockey all day. Wow....if thats what it takes to impress hey?......

The kids came with me to a 40th birthday party on saturday night...got their fill of junk food and playing with friends.

Then Sunday they had a friend stay over for a sleepover (their almost cousin). It went surprisingly well. Usually I have to tell my two to settle down about 1000 times...but they played really well. Even when sledding and confronted by a sassy little girl from the city....we all know what those city girls can be like!!

By the way the stories went it sounded like a real romance brewing...hee hee

Now today they have over the other C. It has been about 7 hours together and literally have not had one fight, not one tattle, not one incident. (Other than drinking their soup through their straws...and a few off color remarks) Not like yesterday when they locked themselves in the furnace room at Louises house...

So far - so good.

hockey updates from the weekend...

C-mans team went 3-0 on the weekend. Their team played really well....and I was impressed with how C played. (Which lately hasnt been the best with this nasty hacking cough).

Retzkys team went 2-1 and he also played really well. Played defence for 2 of the games and I was surprised by how much better he is playing in that position.

Tonight powerskating, tomorrow and thursday practise, then games fri, sat, sun.

Long Weekend!!

Hey there....you still around? Or, let me guess ....you've went away for the week as well....

I went and bought a $22 bottle of Vitamin D. That should do the trick and save me a few thousand buckaroos....just had my first gulp. yum. almost as good as a fruity rum drink.

Had my first ever real massage (not like a spa one) to try and get my back in a straight line again......right after I had it done I felt like a million bucks.....today a little sore again. So...because of the back and the NOT SLEEPING all week...I didnt go to C-mans game tonight....instead slept like a baby for 1.5 hours. (now ..not so tired...) Also thought I would take advantage of DH being home as he is now a big wig Engineer and back on call.

Havent been sleeping all that well with C being up coughing, DH getting home late from hockey (and leaving the tv on excruciatingly loud), and DH's cell phone now ringing at 4am (now that he's a working man again...I have to get used to the calls).

R-dog has hockey twice tomorrow and twice sunday. C-man has hockey once tomorrow (but may join in on the afternoon ice time with his brother) and once sunday.

We are all heading to a 40th birthday tomorrow night...so we could be a tired bunch. Good thing we dont have school and we can rest up....funny, eh?

thinking healthy thoughts..

Today...working from home as we had a conference call this morning...and my boss is gone for part of the afternoon....so its just easier. Also...I finally booked in for a massage...my poor achey breaky back just wont get better on its own. Trust me, I've tried and it just wont.

Generally, I'm pretty stubborn and eventually things get better....but this is annoying me...so in I go.

Also...DH is taking C-man in to the Dr this morning...he should be home shortly and we will see what they say. I know...a cold, right? But you never know.

Mom was pretty worried about me after the last post....but just so you know mom...I am a hard crazy woman on the outside and on the inside I'm a soft delicate rose petal.....all positivity....there are just so many layers....not to worry.

that last one might have been a bit harsh.

Okay enough already!

This is to all my friends and family that have left for a sunny destination, or are leaving for one shortly.

Some of us left behind are in a serious way. We are desperate for vitamin D. I mean desperate.

I know I know...hawaii is beautiful, Mexico was a blast, Vegas was Vegas...and I am extremely jealous.

And extremely exhausted...my lack of Vitamin D has left me weak and uninspired and severely jealous. So much so...that I have not returned friends calls....and really dont know how I will get through this set of hum-drums....

So...good for you....you wonderful tanned people....good for you....now leave me alone in my cave with no sunshine to wallow in my own pity.

What is it with the bugs that come and go in our house.

When Retzky or myself get sick...its gone within 2-5 days....

DH and C-man are a whole 'nother story. DH is now on week 4....he still sounds like Barry White...(which is kinda sexy!).....and still hacking like an old smoker (not that sexy).

I kept C home from powerskating tonight, and if he's not better will probably not go to practise tomorrow night either. I have tried Vicks on the feet, hot tea, extra steamy showers/baths, humidifiers, and today we tried a spoonful of honey. (I have never ever thought that otc cold medicines work....nor have antibiotics for him....) He is on about day 10 - I will give him a couple more before I go to my Dr (who will say he has a cold...duh).....He still has been eating, running around, fighting with his brother (and me for that matter) and sleeping pretty well.....just that the bug wont leave...

Keep my fingers crossed....maybe the honey did the trick......if you have any more suggestions....please let me know....

few and far between

Apparently I have been lacking in my humorous life stories. And as my older and wiser (much older) sister likes to tell me....I better get with it.

So...she has emailed me about 20 different ideas and topics for me to write on.

I looked it over and realized that what I ...or we...need to do ....is to get Velvis to write her own damn blog. I think she is pretty marvelous....has wonderful stories....plus she is a world traveller....and being that she is so much older than I am....she would know soooooo much more.

hockey updates

Not much to update.

C-man played two games this weekend and lost both. The first one they were missing a few good players and the second one not a lot seemed to want to play. I am thinking of making C miss powerskating and practise this week as this nasty cold doesnt want to leave the poor little fella.

Retzky had his tourney cancelled on sunday which was a bit of a bummer.

The stories are getting bigger and better...

For those parents out there......hopefully I'm not the only one going through the "fib stage"...which at our house seems to be going on and on and on. Usually the tales get bigger when the "Other C" is around....but we've been hearing a lot more lately.

Lets see....they can beat Sidney Crosby with their moves......they have made better stops than NHL goalies.....they're smarter than their teachers.....they already know how to drive.....you know.

Tonight we were watching some tube-age after supper when that catchy little commercial came on about the Olympic Torch (you know the one...for you and me...and just happens to be by the place that pays me...) C-man turns to his brother and says - I've done that before....you know....carried the torch.

Wow...a boy of 7 with such worldly experiences we must be doing something right??? yeesshhh...

So when the torch does come through our little town next year we really hope we can all attend- thats a pretty big deal- and hopefully our little man will enjoy it....even though it will be his second time around.

My other boss is back!!

Now DH is home....after a long couple of days sledding with his bro and little cuz. Sounds like it went pretty well...although he came back home with a cooler full of food...and a couple empty bottles??? (water, of course)

The weather was great...and they had a friend show up for the second day of sledding...sounds like they may try it again at some point.

But not right away....as the boys are going to be going back to work shortly. Sounds like little bro is getting "qualified" on monday with DH on tuesday. Guess this means a real paycheque (YEAH...how do you spell relief?)....but also means we wont see him enough (BOOO...how do you spell...lottery??).

Also, not too sure about this trip to Vegas we were trying to hopefully squeeze in (with my boss airmiles points!!) as now our calendar is really booking up....two more hockey filled weekends in April (and we thought that might be our slow month!!).

On the positive note...DH found out his holidays last week and they are really his best ever 4 weeks. One in June, one in September and two the last two weeks of December...(yep...that means xmas off!!!) We are really excited...but now that I said it outloud....hope I dont jinx it....

We dont think we will be able to make the reunion out in Ontario....and really not sure about the one in SK either....but we will do our best....there are only so many vacation days in one year (can you spell lottery??....too bad we didnt live in Ontario in the last little while....and maybe work at a lottery kiosk too...might not have hurt??)

MY BOSS IS BACK !!! MY BOSS IS BACK!!!!

Generally I dont scream and holler when I see my boss....but today was different.

After a week without him (he did so well last year that he went to Florida for a convention)...was a wee bit of a nightmare.

I worked like a crazy woman and got to see my family very little. When I was able to crawl out of the dark hole in the basement I was extremely tired and ok maybe a tad bitchy. Or a tad tired and extremely bitchy. Either way...I'm glad he's home.

I think at last count we had another 8 offers ...so the houses are starting to move again...thank goodness as it was getting a little slow after xmas...(but you wont hear me complaining again!!)

Well DH is off on a little adventure with his baby brother and baby cousin.
They are having a boys getaway at the cabin to do some sledding, drinking and meat eating...??? (I think thats all they took....meat and chips). First day went alright from what I heard (before the cell phone died). Although little cuz's sled wasnt working. They have a back up and hope to go at her hard tomorrow.

So...our night was playing the Wii Fit.....and because my back is still giving me some pain....an early evening with plenty of books.

I started reading to them when they were little and sometimes get too bogged down (literally bogged down into the couch...or work chair...or you know) to read to them. We re-started tonight. I love to lay with them and cuddle and read ...and so do they.

We had some giggles tonight...with cold feet pressed up against each other...and laughing about how "monkey" has to sleep with his eyes open and that it must be sore for him. ahhh good old monkey....been around now for 9 years and he's still the best.

Although I'm not as rough and tumble, fun and goofy as their dad....its nice to know that I'm good for something...especially cuddling....

much delayed hockey update from the weekend

Ok...I know I've let things slide....seriously...no funny jokes...no hilarious pictures....no worldly commentary.....and I have no excuses.

So....here goes.

Saturday hockey hockey. Retzky was at a tourney in Hafford (big Hafford Winterfest...or something like that)...they had fun....but ended 0-3 and were home quickly.

C-man has now caught the cold and its in full swing. He managed to go play hockey with some other kids in Initiation for a game against the Atom/Novice girls. I think it was supposed to be some kind of try-out for a team that they will be taking to a tournament in April (the Native hockey tourney that he went to last year in Saskatoon). I got in a good visit with an old friend from my home town as their little guy was playing as well. C didnt really play all that well as he was coughing out his lungs...but he did manage to score twice (once didnt count as the buzzer rang)...so that was alright (out of 5 goals). He also was double everyone elses size. seriously.

I guess we will hear shortly if he is on the team or not....they ended up in a 5-5 tie...and had lots of fun.

We also heard that Retzky was asked to play in the same tournament with an Atom team....so this year he wont be as bored.

Sunday- I didnt make it to either game as my back was (and still is ) giving me some grief.

C-mans team won....and Retzkys team.....drum roll please.....came away with a HUGE TIE!! (they played the best team in our NB league that is very strong and usually beats us by 7-10 goals....and DH said it was like they won the Stanley Cup....they all jumped on the goalie and went a little crazy) So sad I missed that one..

All begins again this week...tues/weds/thurs/sat/sun.
