i know already!!

Ok..its been 3 days..stop giving me grief already. I am pretty sure my S.A.D. has kicked in with this crapp-o weather....its getting better.

I have been working really freakin hard (24 hours last week!!) and on par for the same this week. I could probably be working more like 60.

Retzky had his hockey windup last night (after being postponed twice). We went bowling and mini golfing. It was a blast. 1st game, both boys beat me!! Unbelievable...and trust me, I was trying. Then, after two beer (the miraculous number for most things) Second game I was flying!! Kicked their butts!! In your face!! (Ok mom maybe I am a wee bit competitive!!)

Today, I am off to work at Agri-Mex (sorta like the home and garden show mini version) as my boss is out of town. Got our #1 babysitter for the afternoon as DH is stuck in Vermilion.

Oh yeah...DH was forced to take a week of holidays starting today as he was laid off again. Hopefully not for long. So, I think we are off to the city on saturday for his hockey tourney. The Montreal Canadiens fan club tourney....still cant believe we are going for a second time!

taxing...

I figured since the weather was going to pot...that I might as well start looking at our taxes....so sorry I havent updated in a day or so....

Numbers stink and taxes are not my forte.

About 15 years ago I decided I would do my own taxes....I remember saying to mom "How hard can it be?" (as mom used to do them in about 15 minutes). I think after about 3 hours and proud as punch I declared to my mom that I owed the government about $4500. Then after I read the amount out loud to her almost started crying. Gave the taxes back to mom after that.

DH on the other hand used to throw all his paperwork and his blank tax return (signed on the bottom) and mail it in. Miraculously it would come back all completed and his cheque in hand. Nice.

Now...we pay somebody to do it and it still gives us grief!! So our mood around here is as dark as the weather. Bah humbug taxman!!!

Lost toof

C-man lost his first tooth on the weekend!!!

He is about 2 years ahead of his brothers schedule now...and because everything is a competition in this house, he should be losing another shortly!!

Tooth fairy visited, and remembered how much money to give...thanks to this blog!!! (I knew I started it for a reason)

4 bucks is the going rate, apparently!!!

Quick weekend

Whew...time flies when you're having fun!!

Friday night had some friends over for supper and drinks...it was fun fun fun. (And nobody had food poisoning!!)

Saturday went for a quick trip to the city to take the kids to a big birthday party. It was at an indoor race track where the kids raced against one another...too much fun!!!

Then we cut out early...raced back to town only to find out that R-dogs hockey windup was cancelled!! Poo..could have blown more money at costco...or visited more!! Sorry ...

Sunday C-man had his hockey windup at the swimming pool, then pizza party, then street hockey.....

I am exhausted!!

Spring has Sprung

Spring is here! Spring is here!! Cabin fever started to break already!!

Happy birthdays to Grandma C and Fuji!!! Hope they were good ones!!

Now we have started walking to school (I am going through the process of letting Retzky walk by himself....I dont "let go" easy....and neither does Sydney...she does not like leaving without him) At least in the fall there will be two of them together...

C-man is quite upset that its spring and their is still snow on the ground!!! He wants to try out his new scooter....DH has finally gotten around to building them. Now its like torture with them waiting to get outside!!

hockey officially over

Now that hockey is officially over, we have spare time. Thats worth repeating...spare time.

We have to actually have conversations - which usually revolve around hockey anyway. "When I am a goalie in the NHL..... "Did you know that Toronto beat
Now sports desk has become #1 station (much better than Treehouse).

We have to actually find things to do. C-man has been riding his bike (toque under helmet, winter jacket and mitts....) we need spring to come.

We have to break up fights. Constant fighting. Wrestling that turns into WWF and in the end someone usually ends up freaking out.

I think ball registration is soon.....

bragging

I forgot to brag. I'm usually really good at it.....

Retzky had his report card and parent teacher interviews last week. Report card was amazing...even better than last time. Mostly all in the 90's.

Interview went extremely well. This teacher has really gotten to know who he is and what makes him tick. Some of the comments were "he grasps concepts years ahead of his time", "learns very quickly", "skills beyond most of the class"....oh yeah and "messy writer...have to work on that".

Now C-man. His preschool teacher has told us he will do great - "especially if he has teachers with a sense of humor, because he has the tendency to want to joke and show off"....naaa not C-man???

We are very proud of both of our little men.....ok bragging done.

I havent had a good - hunched over - belly hurting - tears a flowing - laugh like I did tonight. It was soooo unintentional. really. And awful.

Retzky and I were reading. Well, he was reading to me. He got through the first two books - no problem. Then we picked a "hard" one for the last book of the evening.

He was sooo enthusiastic about it....he blurted out a word very loudly - and mispronounced it soooo badly that I couldnt help but laugh. The way he pronounced the word was THE NUMBER ONE SWEAR WORD that even I dont say. (I know I have a potty mouth...I'm not proud of it). Then of course, just like at a funeral, you get the giggles and you cant stop. Once I stopped laughing I said, in a calm voice.....

No honey...its pronounced "the count". Enough said.

I should have been a chiropractor

Yesterday was a BLAST!!

The kids had one (of a few) of their hockey windups. We went out to Table Mountain and spent frmo 4-7 on their tube run. What a great day! The weather was perfect, the rum was perfect and the kids had an awesome time!!

I managed to make it down (only once) before the hill closed...I was really really busy helping "organize the pizza and pop" hmm mmm. I was coerced into going with two fun chicks, so the three of us barrelled down the hill going mock chicken speed.

Needless to say I screamed the whole time (from pure enjoyment of course). One of the ladies hit the trees at the bottom of the hill-we were laughing too hard to stop. Too much fun!!!!

Next windup is at the swimming pool-then sliding down another crazee hill!! I dont know if my ol' body can handle all this excitement!!

Martha has invaded my home again!!! Two times this week to be exact.

Ok..not quite..(and oh, yeah...she's not dead)...but twice this week I was a chef beyond chefness...tried two new recipes and both were amazing...

First the chicken peanut noodles...quick fast and my boys ate it (although they were gagging all through supper) DH and I luv'd it!!

Tonight...I broiled my first ever t-bone steaks (which I marinated)...honestly fell off the bone and melted in my mouth-the kids and I shared the filet mignon and with it was a beautiful new salad-the BLT...the kids ate it all like crazy. Even Retzky ate the steak...ok....C-man picked out the bacon from the salad and left the tomatoes...but what can you expect?

The internet is a wonderful thing when you are bored...

WOW...I think I need a day off...tomorrow pizza.....

Spring fling

Ok..I wish this was a spring fling post.

I was supposed to stick around this afternoon and answer calls for work. So far, not one call. (Is this the twilight zone?)

So...I started spring cleaning. I have two huge garbage bags of clothes (havent got to the boys rooms yet)...also have four bags of garbage...I thought I was saving stuff for a garage sale. Really? I mean..what do I think I'm saving this crap for...so I can sit outside my house for three days and make $7.50??? Really now...

My boyz went out skiing this afternoon as DH didnt think he would work until 6ish....then tomorrow they are off to the same hill, but to downhill tubing instead of skiing. Might have to sneak a mickey in.

Ok..talked about my happy moments and what I want to do in the future...so here are a few things I definitely dont want to do again everrrrrr (if you catch me doing it...please let me know)

1) Stand in a "fake" line at a bar
2) Give birth (love my boys....not labor)
3) Spread rumors
4) Surf on the roof of a car
5) Dance on a speaker
6) Stay in a theatre for a bad movie (too much time wasted)
7) Stay in a job that I hate
8) Worry about what other people think (too much time wasted)
9) Drink heavily at a work function
10) Cry at the Simpsons (dont know what came over me)

couldnt stop...

So, instead of cleaning up supper dishes or doing "work"...couldnt stop thinking about things I wanted to accomplish...also had wayyy more than 10...so hear goes a few of them (ok...some of them arent for parents to read...so...)

1) Learn to play guitar
2) Be in a broadway musical (for those that dont know...my motto is "I wish my life were a musical, because even when something bad happens....how bad can it be if you are singing and dancing?")
3) Travel more in Canada
4) Travel to Switzerland, England, Scotland, Ireland and Australia
5) Learn a second language (otherwise I wont know my boys are swearing at me!!)
6) Take golf lessons
7) Own a new vehicle (or at least one that isnt 10+ years)
8) Solve world peace (cant we all just get along?)
9) Become more environmentally friendly (dont know why this one is so hard for me)
10) Learn to skate in hockey skates...and maybe play hockey
11) Overcome my addiction to diet coke (pregnancy seemed to solve that...dont plan on being pregnant for the next 40 yrs!!)
12) Feel comfortable enough to wear a two piece bathing suit (not a string bikini or anything....)


Let me know what your plans are for the next 40 years...maybe we'll learn something together!!!

Joking about selling the van, I made a comment that "this has made my top ten happiest moments in my life"...ok not quite....but it made me think...so in no particular order...

1) Marrying DH
2) Having Retzky (and leaving the neo-natal intensive care quickly)
3) Having C-man (and leaving the neo-natal intensive care quickly)
4) Graduating college (finally)
5) Making the college volleyball team
6) Parasailing in cuba (there are pictures...otherwise foggy)
7) Working at the drug store (those were the days...)
8) Knowing that Uncle Tit was not going to marry a floosy (sp?)
9) Dancing at my grandparents 40th anniversary (i just remember being sooo happy...maybe it was the matching outfits)
10) Ski trips (all of them)

So...ok maybe selling the van is 11th.....

Now I have to come up with the top ten things I am going to accomplish before I croak....now this I have to think about....

Holy snow, batman!!

Just when I thought my S.A.D. was coming to an end, we received a sh-t load of snow again today!!!

Two days ago we brought out the bikes and started to put the scooters together. Also bought new brooms to do some spring cleaning (Syd the kid ate the other two brooms....) and now cant find the bikes or the brooms under the snow!

Guess it will be good for tubing down Table Mountain this weekend.

monday monday

Ok..forgot my camera yesterday. Took a tour out to a friends cabin yesterday afternoon and did some sledding, took the kids for some rides and roasted hot dogs. Great afternoon....cant wait for spring!!

We were supposed to go up to our cabin to check out the snow up there...but got a little sidetracked. Hopefully we can get there soon.

Busy week ahead of us. Vball tonight (last one), hockey for Retzky tuesday, have to babysit a good friend on tues/thursday (good for C-man...mom can be pretty boring!!) Have to finish cooking the books for the initiation tourney....dont they know what bankers are like???? ha ha ha I am pretty lost without a computer....then friday is one of the hockey windups.

For that partay we have rented the tube ride at Table Mountain and get free pizza and pop for the evening...the kids cant wait.

Saturday/Sunday Retzky has a year end tourney and will probably get to play about 4 games to wind down his season.

Both of my boys have really improved this year and neither want the season to end. I, however, am looking forward to putting them into ball this spring.

Also...another reason to rejoice (ok this is just me...rejoicing) C-man is finished hockey. Had a great year end tourney. Scored two goals first game, and despite cherry picking, couldnt get a goal for Grandpa B.

Retzky still has a week left...played a good game today (defence again) but scored one goal.

Now...hopefully we are off to the cabin to see the snow, do some sledding and clear the snow off the roof!! Hopefully will have pictures to show from hockey and cabin.....take care

holidays officially over

After shovelling 3 glad bags of dog poop from the melting snow, my holidays have officially ended.

Stress levels back to where they were pre-trip.

Tonight, I am going to shut my eyes and imagine Ixtapa. And a nice young pool boy.

oh yeah....stories...

Ok...first the resort. Probably the best one I've been to since Cuba.

Soft white sandy beaches that went for miles. Clean. Safe. Friendly people and not a lot of pushy vendors (a few). Lots of parasailing, and massages. (highly recommend the massage....enough said)

The hotel had three huge pools. One with a swim up bar (ok this is where i stayed 24/7....there is no purple dye in the pool....) Lots of chairs/shade and fun people. Great service (especially if you sported a beautiful pink cowboy hat!!)

Food was really good, and the hotel itself very very clean.

Right across the street is the market that kept us entertained for hours. (Also Velvis had a prison cell experience there....ha ha ha) oh yeah...travel partner, sister-in crime...was a great companion....although thought she would get much rowdier.....

Had to have a babysitter one night...although my babysitter needed a babysitter (thanks Sleezy!!)

The vedding was incredibly beautiful. Ceremony right at sunset and the party afterwards was amazing. G looked way too good and it was almost like the twins knew she had to fit into the dress-cause I swear that on friday she grew two inches!!!

Ok...more later....fading fast.....must find rum.....

drying out now

The shakes have started and I'm really craving a cervaza (ok...two)...and I'm only working on 3 hours of sleep. (flight delayed out of calgary ...longest day ever!!)

It was sooo nice to see the boys and DH...and we have been catching up all day. (still havent told the boss that I am home...will call him tonight, I guess)

My skin is now dried out and peeling-that started in the plane ride home. (good movie-"Guardian" ...you should rent it!!)

Now off to hockey.....

Hola!! I have finally made it home. What a great trip!! The resort was absolutely beautiful. Clean. Friendly. The weather was perfect. Not a cloud in the sky and 30+ all week.

(I have to admist I was really really homesick...wont be doing that again) I was good for about 4 days...then the tears started flowing easily.

I will post more later, taking R-dog out for lunch.
