hockey equipment

So...got the boyz to try on their equipment to see what we needed.

Since we bought Retzky mostly all new equipment in December, we thought we might be spared. No such luck.

Skates x 1
Gloves x 2
Shin pads x1
Shoulder pads x 1
Pants x 1
Elbow pads x 1
Mouth guard x 1

C-man said he needed a new can...that he grew down there!! yeah right big boy!!

At least at this point the boys are still able to "pass down" equipment. I think next year they could be the same size. C-man is already a year ahead of where R-dog was. Then whats a poor wallet to do?

The good news is that DH is getting over his "but its got to be new" kick.

bandits

We just werent on the ball.

This past week in the crime stoppers section we read about a bootlegging company that was broken into. 450 + litres of wine were taken.

How come I didnt know about this place?

one more baby

Ok...just putting this out in the universe....

Auntie Dally better have this little one soon....we can hardly wait!!

The boys cant wait to have another cousin and this time they are hoping for a bluey.

Me...It doesnt matter....just have it!!! (oh yeah...plus I have about 16 rubbermaid containers to give to you if it is a bluey) And...I'm sure you have room in the apartment...dont give me a hard time about that!!!

Since this is your last day of work before the new one arrives....this is our Congrats on work being over!! Good luck on the new one!! And call me....even if its 4am!!!! I can come in most days and look after Dyly if you need me to!!!!

holy mechanic batman!!

I would not have believed it if I didnt see it with my own two...i mean four eyes!!

DH put in a new rad in my lovely little toyota today!! Ok..well he took out the old one, while Uncle Tit did the rest (i think). But still-it got done without paying a mechanic!!! yahoo!!

I think I can go to the family reunion after all!!

You never know..there might be a Mike Holmes in him somewhere too!! (cant wait to see him in coveralls)

back on the road again

Started our early morning walks again. Quite a bit slower now that we have had over a week off (damn alcoholidays!!) Also the freakin moisture in the air was ludicrous....I am sweating as I sit here.

We have been put on a list for an a/c (might as well get all the appliances this year)...so by this time next year we wont be whining as much. ok...we wont be whining about the heat.

Just heading out for supper...will try to update later .....ttyl

when does school start?

The boyz must be feeling better....they are driving me crazy today (which is a good sign that they are completely healthy).

They are driving me crazy with typical boy stuff. "He kicked me in the nuts!!" "He put a bug in my hair" "Why cant we go to Dairy Queen?"

Its much easier at the lake....

So, the countdown to school is on. This week I have to work. Weekend, family reunion (really looking forward to this!!). Next week they are staying at grandpa and grandma tractors!!! Yeah!!!

Next weekend the big golf tourney...definitely looking forward to that....then hockey camps start....yeah!!!

not much time left ....

you know you have...

Ok..here is one of our topics of conversation this past week of holidays. Of course, over wine, beer, slush, whatever we could get our hands on that gave us some good laughs.

Song lyrics. Specifically, the way people screw them up and sing them like they own them.

One our our lake buddies, was telling us that their 5 year old son absolutely adores the song Juice Box Hero...(aka juke box hero from foreigner).

On a high school basketball trip, one of the "cool chicks" thought that Turbo Lover was Turtle lover (try explaining that one).

I used to think "Elvira" was Hell Fired Up...I have no idea why...

Yes...there are more...let me hear them...makes me laugh hysterically...plus I have just about all the "clean up" I can handle for two sick-filled days....let me hear yours....

ok..back for the rest of my holidays

I am definitely not going to complain. nope. I had amazing holidays. Awesome weather, and fun times.

But they did come to a grinding halt. First C-man so sick we ended up in emergency. Now older brother is falling right in his footsteps. Between the two we have had about 36 hours of vomitting, high fever, shivering, etc etc.

Decided to come home from the lake a few days early....good thing too, my poor lawn looked like someone had set fire to it.

We may or may not head back up to the lake, depending on what happens...probably will stay home and get ready for my back to work....and also for our big camping excursion and family reunion.

back for one day..

Some kinda flu bug going around at the lake. Our awesome lake buddies have been struck by chicken pox, mono, and now this bug....hope you are all feeling better.

Came to bring C-man back for the day as he spent the night being sick. So, he can relax at home and I can catch up on laundry.

The lake has been amazing. We have been tubing, knee-boarding and tomorrow Retzky wants to try skiing. We have also been sitting in the shade, in the water and trying our damndest to keep cool. 47 with the humidex two days ago....whew....hot hot hot...just the way holidays should be.

DH has wed/thurs and part of friday off....he was hoping to get the weekend off...but nothing ever stays the same at the railway and now he is not sure if he is even still in NB....might be just hanging on by a thread.

Hope you are all well...miss everybody a ton!! Take care...V2

holidays

YAHOO...I am now officially on holidays. Zipped in to the city yesterday for a quicker than expected trip. Got to see the twins. Totally adorable. GnC have it together. Totally cool about this parent hood thing. Way way different than we did. I remember being totally exhausted and overwhelmed. They do not in the least. Good on ya guys!!

On the way home , stopped in to Costco and spent a ridiculous amount of money in a very short time....it was awesome...

Now...I am just finishing up the packing and off to the lake I go. Wont be home for over a week now....so please no grief over not updating ok? ok?

Talked to the boys last night and I have to go survey the damage. Apparently Retzky had his first crash on the motorbike. Had a little trouble sleeping last night...must get up there and give someone a lecture. (probably dad)

oh yeah...one more thing...

I take back all the mean things I said about facebook.

Now...I am loving it....not quite addicted...but loving it just the same.

Friends that have never even had email before....friends that I have not seen or talked to since highschool (a little longer than a year ago).

Its really nice. I'm sorry facebook.

The secret is paying off

Ok...one of the chapters in "the secret" is about money. Visualizing etc etc....you gotta read it to "get it".

So, I tried it. Yesterday...got a free $50 gift certificate for gas. Today....got a huge gift certificate for COSTCO...yes I said COSTCO....cant wait to spend it.

I am trying larger numbers...so now I just have to concentrate on more zeros.

Also...put a new fridge in today...put the old girl down. RIP

Another day at camp

nope...not band camp either Auntie Dally....get your head out of the gutter again!!!

The boys did another day camp today. Had a lot more kids attend in the sweltering heat. The theme was an old fashioned picnic. They had water balloon fights, three legged races, more food and a whole lot of fun.

Then, we went over to a friends and picked up a truck load full of birch they wanted to get rid of....big fire at the lake now....

Tonight...getting the kids packed up for the lake...the next 11 days for them will be by the water. Me, I'm off to the city for meetings tomorrow and to visit the twins after that. (oh yeah...and costco....cant forget costco)

Step out of your box

Ok Auntie Dally...get your mind out of the gutter...as soon as I say box...I know what you're thinking.

Last week I did something I dont think I ever would have before. I emailed my MLA. (you know the politician, government person thingy in charge of things)

I am inquiring about the number of train derailments lately. Thank goodness, of late, there have been no major injuries or fatalities. But the amount has been overwhelming. Today, I had a response back, saying that it was being passed on to the appropriate channels.

I'm going to put this out there - if you have never done anything like this before....why not now?

I am concerned, of course, for the well being of my wonderful DH, awesome Uncle Tit, groovy Uncle Rye'n'Coke and of course many friends. But also for the safety of anyone who uses the highway, drives in the city by the tracks or is concerned about their environment. Something has to be done.

Ok...I'm off my soap box.

If you dont know who you MLA is...you can go to the government of canada website and find them by putting in your postal code.

Thanks....

day camp

Forgot to write about the kids day camp last week.

They had a blast...couldnt stop talking about it. The theme was "aboriginal day". They got to make an open fire, cook bannock and make home made jam.

They also played at least 6 new games they have never played before and made dream catchers.

Very cool....signed them up again for this weds.....

pics from the weekend...

Redundant

I know we have said this pretty much every weekend, and this one was no exception.

We had another amazing time at the lake. DH and the boys were there thurs/friday, and I met them late friday for the rest of the weekend.

The weather was scorching hot hot hot, with no wind. So, we pulled our chairs down to the water and didnt leave our spots for very long.

Retzky tried knee boarding for the first time. On the second pull, was up for the long run. Uncle P drove as DH was working and he had a blast !! He says its now his favorite thing. Also another tooth came out - so quite an eventful weekend for him

C-man tried water skiing and knee boarding. He was having a little too much fun and almost made it up skiing. There is always next time.

Our cousins were up with their three beautiful girls and we had a great visit. The boys really love to spend time with them, and so do we. Now, with the hail around the province, we may not see them for awhile.

This week...work m/t/w and head to the city thursday for meetings. Hoping to help out G with the boys for a day before I head back to start my holidays!!! yeah

the not so secret, secret

Hey...finally got my hands on the book.

Half way through...I think I am converted from a realist/pessimist...to a positive thinker. It may take me awhile (years of practise) but I will do it.

Loving the book already....

off to the lake

Again, DH and the boys headed off to the lake without me. Would love to take the time off and go up with them, but next week am only working 3 days, and the week after I am on holidays. I am feeling too guilty to take the days off.

So, I worked at the building until now...came home and have to really clean my house. Clients coming here tonight to sign some papers, so I have a lot of work to do.

Then...more cleaning, more packing, more shopping for groceries. I will meet them tomorrow afternoon. (hopefully will see the cousins and their three girls up there!!)

do you believe

Last night while the kids were sleeping, gave DH a hair cut. (Pretty much shaved down to nothing)

Kids jump into bed with us this morning.

R- "Did you get a haircut?"

DH- nope

Me- "I think his hair must have fell out overnight,,wink wink"

R- "I wonder if the hair fairy knows?"

Day 5

On day 5 of early early morning walks/run. Feels good once we are done, but man that morning thing is killer. Right now we are doing 1 hour with sprints up a hill to finish off. (This week 4 sprints - next week 6).

Also - last day of our (DH and I) "cleanse". (Basically eating ridiculously good, ridiculously small portions). Feel like I could chew my own arm off, but its all for good, right? RIGHT?

Kids are off to a day camp today at the Fort. 10-4 filled with activities, crafts, games etc etc. Hopefully those black clouds to the west of us pass quickly...looks a little scary (although I'm not in my basement yet!!)

Last night, Retzky had a fever...please please please dont be strep throat ......

Hopefully with this post everything will be back to normal (or as normal as we get around here)

Exercise, shmexercise...

Got up early early again. This is taking its toll (3 times now!!) Did my walk with gal-pal Kroch Rocket....great to have company. (She is one of those....she actually gets up in the morning anyway)

After the walk decided to do some pushups/situps and stretching. Retzky asked if he could do it with me. Of course, please do....so he started doing pushups...then stopped after 5.

I asked him why he was stopping the exercise, he told me he wasnt.

He sat back down on the couch, crawled under his blanket and says to me "i'm exercising my eyeballs!!"

beach babes

All 3 of my boyz headed to the lake yesterday - and they didnt even pour much salt in my wounds. In the 30+ temp, they sat at the beach most of the day. I worked an 8 hour day...whew...

I will be heading up tonight after I'm done work, and DH will be heading home to work sat/sun. At least the car has air conditioning.

Started my early morning walks yesterday, up at the crack of 6 (thanks to cn - canvassing for workers- for my wake up call)

Take care ....

Lovin the heat

You are definitely not going to hear me complain about this weather...bring it on....lovin the sunshine!! (even though an a/c would come in handy)

Today, I worked in the am, while the boys hung out with DH. Bike riding, walking Syd, and cleaning the house were on their agenda. When I got home, their cousins were here to play.

They got to pick the restaurant-McD's - of course- even though Retzky wanted Boston Pizza. After eating in a record 6.6 seconds, they were off to play in the play area while the adults visited. Then, they came back to the house to play some more....sure dont get together often enough!! They are great girls and our boys adore them. (Even though C-man and Wylie are wayyyyy too much alike)

Tonight...the boys and I went for another bike ride (gotta get those legs in shape for hockey). I am not going to work tonight, as I am going in tomorrow and friday for fulllllllll days. (DH is planning on taking the boys up to the cabin on his days off).

Having a little trouble with potty mouth, with our precious two. I know I am partially to blame, but blame is not the solution....so if any of you have advice, we would love to hear from you....

Crazee Cuz and her family came...and her little man got up on water skiis first try, first time ever!! Our boys went tubing even over the wake!! DH and Crazee Cuz's DH "bonded".
