Watch out! Dont mess with the farmers daughter. Tough as nails and not afraid of anything.
Except maybe mice, deer, birds, cats, well anything that moves basically.
Last week, DH noticed that something odd was walking up the street and into our yard. On closer inspection we see that its a PORCUPINE. A freakin rat with spokes coming into our YARD!! So, of course, I overreact.
Ran outside on the deck to yell and scream at it in an attempt to rid the vile creature. The damn things must be deaf, cause it didnt even slow him down.
Even Retzky got outside within a few feet to see what he could do (imagine my screams of horror). Then I started yelling (watch out, he can shoot those quills!!)
Seriously? Who am I kidding....I know deep down that they dont shoot quills. But, they are playing with my emotions now.
That started my research....you know that everything you read on the internet is true....so here is what I found out.
1. They dont shoot their quills
2. They will live in pine trees (yikes...those freakin trees have got to go!!)
3. They are very hungry little rodents-somewhat like beavers in that they love to chew. Bark, wood, tires, gas lines (good gawwwdddd....)
4. You can run them over with a tractor and they wont die.
Ok....DH tells me its gone, but I havent been able to sleep for a week. I'm looking for some hillbilly friends with shotguns.

Here we go again....
So this past weekend we had a hockey tournament. - **Shocked** arent you? I thought you might be.
It was the Snake Lake tourney (or something like that)...in P. A. The kids had some great competition. They played Lloydminster, Saskatoon, P. A, Marwayne and The Pas. All our games were pretty tight. The semi-final game was a nail biter. With only a minute to spare on the clock, C-man got to take a wicked slapshot to tie it up. Then after double overtime, we won. It was very exciting.
The final game was also very tight. 2-1 the whole way (for the Pas) until the last minute and a half, when we pulled our goalie and gave up two empty netters to lose.
The kids had a blast, and so did the parents...so I guess thats what its all about.
And in the mean time, we let Retzky stay home to ref a couple of games (and apparently to spend all of his hard earned dough on canteen sugar). He also got the honor of staying home alone for quite some time on sunday. Nothing major broken, but every last morsel of food was gone and somehow a tornado got in.
At least the porcupine didnt. HAHAHA (thats a whole other post!)

Thanks

Its been awhile, but I think we are getting back to "normal" around here. I just wanted to thank all our friends and family for all the support we have been getting. The calls, texts, emails, food, flowers and love.....its amazing.
You have to know that it means everything to us. I also realize now how important it is to reach out to others at this time...who would have thought it would take me this long to grow up?
Now we are back home attending to all the day to day activities and burying ourselves up to our eyeballs. The railway has been calling fast and furious....the houses keep selling and the kids activities are endless. seriously-endless. ha!
C-man had his home tourney this past weekend and won the A-side. We did have a bit of a hometown draw (no comments !!) And a bit of an easier draw until the final...then it was a show down. Unfortunately, it was against some of our best friends - which made it tough. Would love to play them again under different circumstances and I think we will have a couple more chances this year to do just that.
R-dog will be playing his first round of provincial playoffs this weekend (we have to playoff to see who will represent our league). Will keep you in the loop on how that goes...oh yes, and he had a late minute call to lines the A-final at the tourney....you should ask him about the Hershey square!!

RIP Grandpa Golfer
I didnt know if I could write this posting. Its a tough one. Its not about our hockey scores, our travels or how much we have been doing. Its about a man we love.
Grandpa Al passed away this weekend after a long fight with a crappy illness. And man, did he fight. To go threw the sh!!t that he did and still have a smile or a laugh for you, shows you the kind of man he was.
To the core, he was a kind and gentle man. And to my boys-a caring and attentive grandpa.
From the time he first came into our lives, he loved my boys. He would help out whenever he could (sometimes just to let the kids eat as much candy as possible!!) when they were young. And as they got older he would take them golfing. They loved every minute of it.
He was there to watch their ball games in the summer and their hockey games in the winter. He would call to talk to them on the phone whenever Detroit won. He would sit down and play video games or card games with them when others were too busy.
I want to thank him for being him. Thank him for being a part of our lives...
I will raise my vodka glass up to you in my stilleto heels, Albert. We love you

You say its been awhile, eh?
Why yes it has. Thanks for thinking of us.
Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! All the best to you and yours....and all that other stuff...
We have had a whirlwind romance with our holidays. We have had visits from grandparents (yay!), trips to the city to see grandparents (yay!), hockey skates, money making referee stints, trips to the ski hill, two birthday parties and a few house parties. We did not, however, make it up to the Lake to see our famdam. dam. Sorry about that.
Too much going on, too many overcommitments. DH worked like crazy (both Christmas night and New Years Eve) and inbetween tried to keep us entertained. He is now in his last year of turdies, and C-man is into double digits. whew!
Now-we are back at it. Hockey started back up on tuesday, school on weds and roadtrips starting tomorrow. This weekend we are going to make it to Prince Albert, Melfort, Lloydminster and Martensville. Dont ask me how we are going to do it just yet....but thats the plan.
Oh yes, and our tuesdays got a little busier. Retzky has decided that he would like to play basketball for his school team. Guess when practises are....yep....tuesdays. And when I asked him why he changed his mind about basketball, his reply was "I've always loved playing the game, just dont make me practise" That sums it up.
