Ok..Velvis is making me update this...even though I should be tucked in tightly. (5:30 is going to come early...yikes)
After a fight filled car ride - and a short visit with our lake friends - we arrived at Auntie Velvis' and Uncle Cherrys.
C-man hit the sheets, Retzky watched a bit of a movie, DH and I are enjoying some company and beverages.
First game is at 8, have to be at the rink at 7, which means we have to leave here at 6....as the rink is all the way across town.
Could be interesting....we will keep you posted. I havent even tried to bribe for wins. yet.

oh yeah...how could I forget this one??
ewww...I dont know how I forgot to put this one down in ye old blog...
Sunday's practise...Retzky met a new sibling off the team...and they hung out and did whatever boys do to occupy their time...(i really try hard not to know)...
When practise was over, we jumped in the truck to head home.
(and I know DH and I are childish...so take this with a grain of salt).
Retzky says (ok...we'll call the kid Frank). "Hey guess what...Frank has crabs!!)
DH and I look at each other and start giggling...."really?"
Retzky..."Yeah...crabs...a whole bunch of them...."
Now we are laughing hysterically (seriously we are worse than children)
By now, Retzky catches on and says "Are you guys gonna tell me about crabs now or later...cause crabs are not that funny? There must be something more to this.."
So...having nothing left to say...DH uses the old standby....its not crabs thats funny...its the WAY you said it....
not sure that covered it...but havent had any questions of crabs pop up...

texting..
This past weekend at the rink...I met up with crazymamas hubby. Good to see him...had a bit of a chat about kids/life/etc...
In the midst...he told crazymama I was there and told me to text her. Seriously?
Ok..I am saying this only because it seems as though EVERYONE texts except for me...and when I do...its not pretty.
After I sent her a short message, I realize that it comes across as rude....short....snippy.
So...crazy mama....when I sent that message...what I really meant was this...
How are you? I am soo sad that you arent here so we can have a visit. I understand that your family is going a lot of different directions right now..and you must be exhausted...you will truly need a vacation soon. Maybe a spa day when the chaos is over?? Miss you...love you....cant wait to talk to you...
Instead...I write....bum....where r u?
Nice...
moral of the story...if you want me to text you.....you are going to be waiting a really long time for a reply.....it may be a one word answer that you will have to decipher.....and if you want more detail....pick up the damn phone and call me....ok??

has summer come and gone??
Really...was that it....two golf worthy days...and back to fall?? hope not!!
Sunday we headed into the city for a game against Regina (DH was able to make it..yah!) then a practise in the afternoon.
Even though we had home town crowd (two sets of grandparents, great auntie and cousins galore!! thank you thank you)...we ended up losing 4-1. They were a strong team...but I dont think we played the best we can, either.
We'll take the loss and learn from it...and hopefully be a bit hungry for a win at the tourney this weekend in Edmonton. (is that me talking...or the kids??? ok...maybe I'll be hungry for a win...they'll just be hungry)
In between game and practise - we had a successful run to Old Navy and Costco...(YAH...and by successful, I mean all 4 of us went and nobody killed anyone...).
The last practise was a short one..since they took team photos in our new uniforms...that are pretty cool. We'll show you when we get them...pretty snazzy.

one day of the weekend gone gone gone...
Uncle Cherry made it safe and sound last night...had a bbq and a few bevvies before heading off to sleep. Retzky missed out with us...he got invited to a friends for a sleepover.
We were up at the crack of dawn...sent DH and C-man to the city....Uncle Cherry off to the quad rally.
Since I had the house to myself...I went back to bed for another hour (sweet)...then did house work for about 3.5 hours before Retzky was set to return. The sad thing was if you were to just walk into the house...you would not have been able to tell some crazed woman was cleaning for that long. sad.
R-dog got home about 1, then I had to take him out to a friends house for the afternoon....social butterfly.
Took a break from cleaning...went and tried to do some local shopping with Louise...couldnt find one stinkin thing I was lookin for .....
When I got home, DH and C-man were shortly after. He had two ice times and two hours at the wave pool, then right outside to the outdoor rink in the back yard (made dad go with him...heehee). Right before supper was ready, R-dog got home....C tried to get him to play hockey...and he could barely keep his eyes open on the couch. Apparently at the sleep over...it was more like an "over" not much of a "sleep".....needless to say they were both in bed early.
Cherry made it home just after we ate....full of mud and stories....sounded like a good time.
Now...heading off to bed myself....leaving early for the city tomorrow....game at 11:30, and practise at 3:30.

I was born in a small town,,,,sing along
Dont you just love John Cougar??
Anywhoo....this past weekend when the boys were meeting new kids....the small town boys that R-dog met were super.
When they were introduced, a bit shy, but they got over it in a hurry. When I asked them what they did...I thought I would get the typical response "nothing" or "ran around"....but instead they were teaching him some card games....and played football with a quarter.
I had forgotten all about that game. And here in the big town...it hasnt come up either....
Man...its nice to bring back fond memories of small town.
(Playing kaiser in class.....riding your bikes with no helmets....or no real traffic to worry about......everybody knowing everything....oh wait...that maybe not the best memory....but now that I have boys...it sure is nice to know that somebody knows something....)
Plus ...everyone is always related to somebody else....and this weekend was no exception....one of the boys we met is best buds with my cuzns son (K-girl)....
small world....

hockey hockey and new friends....
Well, the first weekend is officially under our belt.
Saturday C-man had his first two practises with his new AAA team. Practises went well and I was up to my nostrils in paperwork by the time we are done. I still dont know how I got arm-twisted into doing this...but I think I'm losing weight (no time to eat when I am stressed and on the computer)....so it might have an upside...???
We all know that mornings are not my strong point, so the boys got me up and at em...and out the door by 6:45....and as much as I hate mornings it wasnt that bad.
In between practises they got to play laser tag with their team and siblings. Retzky met a bunch of boys his age and everyone got along sooooo well. I hardly saw them at all as they were running around all weekend together.
We came back home saturday night and brought DH with us for todays game. It was our first, against a city team called Quest. After the first period (working out the nerves) we posted a 7-1 win. The kids played really well...especially for their first game.
DH came home with the coaches wife, while I got suckered into going to the meeting. I left feeling really positive about the organization as a whole and with a head ache because of all the work left to be done.
Really a whirlwind weekend....but a lot of positive things happening.

Spring cleaning...
Dont know what got into us today.
DH cleaned up the yard (took a full truckload to the dump), worked on the shed, and got the rink boards all ready to go back.
I went to Sarcan (huge line of pensioners that wanted to chat), Culligan (to return to big water containers...that I have had wayyy too long), and I IRONED .....
Honestly feels like I have a new wardrobe. Pants I havent worn in ages...all because they were in my "ironing pile"....which might as well be called...never to be worn again pile.
I dont remember the last time I ironed....maybe when Ma got me to iron the pillow cases??? surely cant be that long ago??
Please tell me that people still dont iron their pillow cases and sheets??
C-man occassionally asks me to iron his pants...as he wants them all straight...(you know instead of looking like they sat in his laundry basket for months)....HAHAHA ironing a 7 year olds pants....dont think so...
We still have a lot of spring cleaning to do, but it sure felt good to get it started. Now...I have to get to work as I missed a little bit of my morning and have to make it up tonight....ttyl

i'm a widow, again
And this time, not because of the railroad...
Playoffs are on.
Seriously could be stripped down to nada....and telling him that I am in love with another woman....probably wouldnt even budge.
Unless I was bringing him a beer. then maybe.
There is about a 1/2 hour until the next game is on...I might be allowed to speak...but now they are outside playing street hockey.....
Cant win.

Big Date Night
Kids away....ooohhh lala
We must be getting old. Kids gone to the grandparents for a couple of days...DH wakes up and says that we should go on a date. Man, we havent done that in forever. Since I was still half asleep and barely functioning, I assumed I was dreaming.
DH wanted to take me out and wine and dine me...just like the good old days.
By the end of the work day...we were both exhausted...and decided instead of going out to eat...we would cook a good meal at home (also being the frugal recession-istas that we are).
So...our date night consisted of grocery shopping together (no PDA's)...then we went for a walk around the river (ABSOLUTELY the most beautiful evening)....then we cooked a spiced up stir fry.
And I fell asleep on the couch. really. Poor old DH has to deal with his old wife and her ability to sleep anywhere, anytime.....

C-man and Retzky were invited to play in the Native Western Canadian Championships this weekend.
C with the pre-novice team, R dog with the Atoms. Both teams did very well and both boys played great.
C-mans team didnt really have much competition and the scores showed that. He really stuck out when we watched him play and when they won the A side, he won the All Star trophy that was handed out to one player. He was so proud he didnt let go of the trophy for hours.
Unfortunately my batteries died at the wrong moment (AGAIN...even though I checked them before hand) and I didnt get a picture. I do have a few that got emailed to me...so I will post them.
R-dogs team went to the B side final, but unfortunately didnt play as well as they had previously and ended up losing 4-1. Retzky got $5 from the coach as he offered it up to the first person to end the goose egg. He scored with about 40 seconds left...he was pretty excited as well.
Right now they are at grandpa and grandma tractors and we will see them tonight....miss the little farts....and its extremely quiet around here....
Easter
Easter has come and gone at our house. We had the bunny come on friday as we were going to be away all weekend.
The kids thought the Easter bunny was pretty lame this year as the eggs werent well hid. I explained that the bunny was really tired as he had to make a special trip even though he was still making preparations for sunday. (R-dog knows better and rolled his eyes at me...C-man fell for it).
We spent the weekend in the city at GnD's and got to watch the girls hunt for their eggs. They are growing up so quickly and are soooo adorable.
We ate too much, drank too much (not me...i slept too much), and played some hockey (i will post on that later).
All said and done it was a great weekend....hope you all had a great easter as well.

Dare I say it??
Ok..its all my fault...but I'm gonna say it. I think it might be springtime.
I have wore open toed sandals for two days straight. DH almost has the whole rink taken apart and loaded up (only two pieces still frozen in the ice). I see grass....well...I see about 12 bright orange hockey balls and pucks that are covering where my grass should be. (And at least that many on the neighbors lawn)
I started to pull out some of the spring/summer clothes.....but I havent put away any mitts or toques yet....just in case.
I dont want to be blamed for it when the weather changes.
Baby steps.

long crazy fun weekend...
This weekend, we had hockey hockey hockey.
C-man had try-outs for a AAA team that is located out of Saskatoon. He had his first two ice sessions in Langham on saturday, then next two in the city on sunday.
He was pretty pumped. He took the drills very very seriously...budding to make sure he was always the first one in line....and not letting anyone skate faster than him...which was really a challenge as there was some pretty talented kids there. The second ice time was a game. I was pretty nervous for him as he was asked to play defence which he hasnt played consistently (or more than 3 games ever)...but he did REALLY well.
DH got to watch the first day...then had to go back to work. Retzky stayed home at a friends (birthday party at the pool was a little hard to pass up).
The second day we were up at the crack of dawn (seriously he couldnt sleep...he was vibrating)....and had two more sessions. We were really proud of him (grandparents, uncles, cousins too) and quite happy that he received a letter welcoming him to the team. (I cried like a baby even though I had a pretty good idea).
All he was concerned with was when their first game is and what number is he going to be.
Grandma and Grandpa Golfer treated us like we were at the spa...spoiling us with everything you could want. (Sorry we couldnt stay longer for the turkey...but it was delicious the next day!!)
C-man didnt even make it to the highway - slept all the way home - then crawled into bed and slept in the next morning...he was pooped!!
We were a little concerned about Retzky ...but he was really happy for his little brother and pretty excited about the fact that he might be able to have more sleepovers at his best friends house. We're hoping he comes along with us as there are lots of siblings his age in our group. There is also some parents that I used to party with 20 years ago!! (that sounds like a long time!!)
It should be fun to re-connect.
All in all we are going to a tourney in Edmonton, Winnipeg and one in Saskatoon. We also have a few exhibition games scattered in as well....with the season ending June 12th.
If anyone wants to buy popcorn, or 50/50's or advertise in our tournament...please let me know!!

parenting classes stat
Or..maybe anger management classes would be more beneficial.
To be fair (to me)...I have been unusually stressed about more than a few things lately, and my blood sugars must be low, but I might be a little testy these last few weeks.....but tonight I had a core meltdown. (Then after my public meltdown, found out that daddy-o also had the same meltdown as I did)
This week has been hockey practise, hockey practise and more practise. C-man is gearing up for tryouts this weekend in Saskatoon....both C and R-dog are practising with their Native Teams for the Western Canadian Championships - Easter weekend in Saskatoon. (they are part of the non-native quota). So, lucky me to be at the rink. Come September, I am usually giddy with excitement about being at the rink....April....my enthusiasm is waining.
So, last week when Retzky lost a BRAND new stick.....(put bag in back of truck, put stick on bumper) ...so new that it was still too long for him....ready for next season!! .....DH and I had a very lengthy chat. Our faces may have gotten red and we may have used a few expletives. (since this was the second BRAND new stick he lost this season...and not the $10 Walmart kind either!!)
Tonight, when I went to pick up the boys from the rink (they were there watching dad play), Retzky had lost his brothers BRAND new stick. The one he had to borrow from his brother, being that he had lost BOTH of his. Mama came unglued.
Said a few things I might like to have back. Apparently so did big daddy. Needless to say, tomorrow the boy is going to the bank to withdraw money from his own account to buy a stick for himself and one for his brother.
Arrrrggghhhhh....I might have talked like a crazy adult. I hate being an adult. really sucks.
dont worry Grandma Gladys....we had a big talk before bed and all is right in our world...no need to run up here tomorrow and save him from big bad mama.

Spring is in the air (knock on wood)
Last saturday the whole fam damily decided to head for a walk down by the river. The weather was absolutely perfect. Not a spot of wind (which in itself is a miracle around here) and the sun was shining.
This was our first real chance to get out in a long time, and it was worth every minute. I took my camera along, but really had too much fun joking with the kids, throwing snowballs and just being goofy. I did get a couple. One the kids made me take...squirrel stare down.....and the other of Retzky in the snow.....thats what happens when you "air bag" your pops.
Air bag, you ask? I didnt know either...but when you're walking at a good clip, then someone (say Retzky) jumps in front of you quickly and stops dead in your tracks....and then yells ...AIR BAG!! (i dont know??)
After our walk, the kids got to enjoy Table Mountain one last day. This time, just the tubing hill for a hockey windup. The ladies sat on the deck sunning ourselves, while the boys had fun on the run. Good times. We were planning on making an evening out of it, but ended up that the oldest had a stomach ache (and with everyone around us having the flu) we decided to call it a night and rent a movie. (if you have a chance to rent Long Shot...great family movie...based on a true story of a young girl quarterback in the States...we enjoyed it).
Again, I sent the camera up with DH...but was having too much fun to take any pictures...guess thats what happens when two hands are full of "go cups".

did someone say hockeys over?
Well..its not...so I have been busy dragging the kids to more practises...thats why I havent posted. Well...that and my brain is really bogged down with a bunch of stuff that wont seem to leave.
Today...there is a housefly in my house. aaahhhh spring.
