hockey hockey

Betcha it feels like yesterday, since I've shared hockey stories with you.

We started 3 on 3, both boys are having a great time.

The oldest has 4 teams in his division, the youngest just two.

Retzky has managed to score a few goals, C-man just one....they both seem to be getting used to the new skates and trying to get their legs back. But they are super pumped about it.

We also registered them for the season last night...not quite as bad as I thought. Only $855...which seems like a lot, until we figure out how much ice time they get (and really reasonable time slots)...plus equipment...so far they both are in a different size...but C-man is right on the heels of his brother.

We need to find an "older" sibling or rich family that casts their equipment down to us....good luck!!

Retzky still wants to be goalie, really really bad....but I have convinced him to stay out for one more year (do I really want to miss cabin time for him to go to goalie school???) I know, its not all about me...so eventually we will do it.

He also decided not to out for the Tier 1 team. (Yes...we tier in Atom)....the final straw for him was the fact that if he did make the team,,,he still might not see a lot of ice time. He says he would rather be on the House League and play a lot.

the drama continues...

found my list!!

Yes, on one of the rainy days at the cabin, I made a list.

I couldnt find the damn thing, until I cleaned my room today (i know its been three weeks...get off my back!!)

But I found a few things that I failed to mention in earlier posts.

1) Another movie we watched- Open Season...sorta alright, but I fell asleep, so it couldnt have been that good.

2) Books: Autumn Blue (brutal...sorta like a Harlequin boring)
: Bad luck and Trouble (Lee Child)..pretty good..

: Tallgrass (Dallas)..quite a good read, tells a story of the Japanese camps in the U.S.

: Winters Child---BRUTAL---another harlequin romancey one..

But what can you expect from garage sale books??? Killed the time when the kids were asleep.

And oh yes...cant believe I didnt mention this.

I STARTED THE BBQ AND COOKED MEALS ON THE BBQ. But dont tell DH - otherwise I'll have to do it at home too.

And...I cooked bacon. I HATE COOKIN BACON. But the boys wanted it...

And....I STARTED FIRES...YES PLURAL...FIRES....

Next thing you know I will be setting mouse traps and cleaning the gunk out of the sink...

doubt it..

The goods from the river...

Nice to have two lake front properties...once the river "offshoot" is now sandbars...the boys have been finding a lot of new activites.
They have caught oyster things, crab things, lobster lookin things (which I didnt get a picture of...i know....) They named one Pinchy - he was the biggest one they caught - brought him home for an overnight stay.
I didnt let poor Pinchy sleep in their bedrooms - only in the garage in a pail of water ....then the next day....the kids and DH took him back down to the river (half dead...but dont tell the boys...they'd be crushed!!)
The first adventure was boys only as Louise and I painted my closet doors (finally!!)...then another couple came over...and we ended up having a few beverages (or a few too many) and a great supper....nice to have such good friends.
So now...the liquor cabinet is empty - and so is Pinchys pail. On to the next adventure...

Another great visit

Its nice to have summer with its lakes and attractions so close by. I got in quite a few really good visits.

This one by crazymama and her five kids (down for a hockey camp)...didnt get the best shots, and - guess what - my camera ran out of batteries before the youngest got his picture taken!!! Sorry!!!!
We had our typical 5 hour visit and it seemed like only a few minutes. We had good laughs about the similarities of our children (and the differences).
DH took them down to the river - sorta like the pied piper - while we chatted (and I tried to figure out how to feed 6 more bodies- yikes!! I dont know how she does it!!)
She has a wonderful family - great kids- and they left in time to miss our hail storm!

lake shots

Silly pickle went for her first tube ride with her daddy...she loved it!!
I took RK for a swim, she loved it, I had a pound of sand up the wazoo, but loved watching her!!

The banquet...

KD- looking beautiful as usual.

Fuj-looking ridiculously happy...then confused...what the heck is that thing you won??

We had a great time. Weather was perfect...the company even better.

oh yes...one apology (could be more to follow) as I did a bit of drunk dialing...sorry KLEMMY!! I'm sure I was trying to be really funny!!! Hope you got to sleep....

Check out the putter we used on #9. Should have used it all game..Mr P showed me how its done.

Grandpa Golfer..looking like he's at his second home..

DH and his mommy....DH and me....aaaahhhh

URD's family...and I have no idea why it went sideways and cant fix it....maybe I was a little sideways when I took it...!!!

Golf tourney pics...good thing for the camera

Grandma Golfer..then Mr. C..and his new outfit...pink bag, shoes and knickers...cant wait for next years digs!!

My team was three men that I knew. And better (or worse) yet..they all liked to drink as much as me!!
Also..this was the first year I made it through the banquet and wanted to keep partying!! I apparently put enough fuel in the tank to keep me going???

A couple of new tricks...

oh yes...how could I forget.

We had some new experiences as well.

R-dog learned to ski !!! Yeah. He tried 5 times on friday, then saturday he got up on the 2nd try and did a loop.

(we wont say that after he got up he refused to go again...only wanting to kneeboard....we also wont say that he likes kneeboarding better right now cause he can "hotdogger")

C-man got up on the kneeboard a few times. Although when his buddy (the other C) got up to the cabin he wiped out...probably trying to show off...nah!!

Also he learned to tie laces!! Another yeah!! There is a story behind this one. When he learned that the above buddy learned to tie his laces..he did not want to do anything but practise. It didnt take him long at all. Then he wanted to make sure that "they learned on the same day, right?"

nothing like a good healthy competition...

memory starting to come back...

Also read about six books...and can only remember the title of one. This was a good summertime read as it was clips and letters. Wisdom of our Fathers by Tim Russert. Nice easy read. Now I will have to get the book that started it all (now I forget the title...but something about Big Russ)....

Grandma Golfer- if you are looking for a book at the cabin....there is a white hardcover with 4 novels. Read the middle two- they are pretty good. The first and last are brutal.

If only I could find my list.

been looking..

On one of the rainy days I made a list of exciting things that we have done on holidays. Now for the past three days I have searched for the list...CAN NOT FIND....so I have to rely on my brain....scary...

Two rainy days...not so bad in three weeks. On the rainy days we watched a lot of movies...

Hot Rod - if you havent seen it yet...its a totally goofy movie that makes you groan so much you start laughing. I think we watched it 4 times...HILARIOUS

Juno - heard lots about it, hadnt seen it yet. Really liked it. Cute. Sappy. Witty. Maybe more of a chick flick. But, glad I saw it.

P.S. I love you - DEFINITE chick flick and LOVED every minute of it. When it originally came out - I wanted to see it only because of the incredibly hunky guy from Greys Anatamony (Dead Denny??)...and you get to see his ARSSS ...nice.

Mr Woodcock- lots of hype. Good story line in theory. WORST MOVIE EVER. Really could have had a ton of potential possibilities....nope nada...dont rent it ....

Cant remember the rest....but good ol cuz has a bunch more to watch when its rainy!! Thanks!!

home for a day and a half...

Okay...so had to make a quick trip home. Laundry, grass up the wazoo, hedges that look more like a security wall, weeds, lake of nutrition....all part of the reason we had to leave our home at the lake to come home to Southtown.

so...if anyone calls today and I sound like a complete witch...here is why.

Woke up early...cleaned the cabin from head to toe....boys not cooperating. Sun beating down. I knew...no...I KNEW...since we were planning on coming home today it would be hot and the lake calm.

So after 3 hours of cleaning ....we headed home....with two boys fighting the whole way.

Then, on to yard work. Cut the grass....managed to tame the hedges....wedd and fedd the new grass....then ran to Wallyworld....which is enough to make anyone grouchy.

Had to try and get more poison for the bee problem in the cabin. (Apparently have made a nice home for themselves inside the walls....which we may have disturbed with the whole levelling thingy...)

Now on to the laundry...wish me luck....gotta get back up the lake....then off to the big golf tourney in Stoon on saturday!!!

Random lake shots...

The best ever slushy drinks.......
The "Matriarch"
Backwards goggles...and the family shot....

From toon town to crazy town...

Then,,,it was off to the lake. Sorry I had to miss the family reunion ...it sounds like it was a blast.

We had a work crew at the cabin to fix us up. Something underneath...apparently needed to be fixed asap. I whined about it for years...then FB took over. Thank goodness for friends....they worked steady from 10-6 with no water, no sun or no food breaks.

Then they worked sunday as well.

Here is the work crew. Thanks to Darren...aka...FB..and the yet to have a nickname lake buddy!!! We really appreciate it....

the weir...and the weird....

Didnt post a picture of the weirdo. Totally creeped us out.
Also..we didnt stay too long on the railway bridge. Metal stairs...metal sculptures all around us...surrounded by water and lightning everywhere. Figured it was time to vamoose....

then from k-town to toon town...

Headed in for a quick tour of the forestry farm and grandpa b/c's. Also unloaded our silver bullet. Yes...we are a two vehicle family once again.

Here are our zoo shots...also did a little walk down to the weir...saw some pelicans and a perv....ask me later...

the tackling shots...oops

Couldnt post all the crop pics last post...so here are the rest...

Oh yes...got my hairs cut in K-town. Really like the cut...its a little "foofoo" in these pics...but I tomboyed it up later on...

Where to begin...???

So its been awhile. Nice to be back. Thanks for checking in.

There could be a whole pile of posts...I will try to get caught up in the last few weeks or so. I am only home for a short time before heading back up to our paradise...so hear goes.

First, I headed back to K-town to pick up the boys. Thanks to ma and pa for keeping them while I worked my fingers to the bone.

Here are some pics of dads crops...the kids had a blast tackling each other...

Welcome
