Monday night, the oldest says to me (with a big grin on his face), I think I got that pig flu and dont know if I will be able to go to school tomorrow mom...
hahah...not a chance buddy...get your butt in bed.
Approximately 4 hours later, I was laying in bed with the youngest. Bad fever, achey everywhere and going to throw up.
Good thing DH was home on tuesday as he didnt go to school...slept most of the day and didnt eat a thing.
Being the old school parents we are.."One day is all you are missing of school....get your butt back to class"....he went to school wednesday morning.
By lunch....I got a phone call to pick him up as he is running a fever. Bad mommy.
Today...he slept most of the afternoon...but by this evening seemed to be a lot better....
What I have learned from this?
1) Kids dont need to watch or hear anything about H1N1....enough already.
2) Again, I wont win any parent of the year awards....maybe next year
3) Every year about 3 weeks after school starts one of my kids has a two dayer...next year I will be prepared.

Rider game!!
This last photo cracks me up!! The camera man followed Retzky for about a minute...his face went 15 shades of red and by the time I grabbed my camera, he was starting to run ...no RUN....away from him.
It was hilarious!!
Huge thank you to Uncle Cherry and Auntie Velvis....it was an amazing experience.
We helped to break the CFL attendance record of over 62000 screaming fans...and trust me....we werent alone....there had to be 50/50 split....

ssssshhhhhh!!!
Ok...its my little secret....please dont ruin it....I'm so excited, if I cough or laugh....i might pee a little bit....shoot. already did.
Auntie Velvis and Uncle Cherry have given us some tickets to Saturdays Rider game in Edmonton!!!!! Yeah!!!!
I am so excited to take the boys to their first ever Rider game (even if I have to go to stinky AB!!...just kidding)
We werent 100% sure that we were going, but as of now we are. So...I'm trying to keep it a secret until we are on our way there...or are there....havent decided if I will blindfold them for the 4 hour drive yet???....
DH is going to try to come...but work may get in the way.
Of course, the kids have been guessing...and today Retzky guessed that. Really. I'm sure he could tell from my expression ( I lie just about as good as I break the rules)....but I told him that absolutely no way no how are we going to Regina....
Now ...just to find some watermelons!!!
I promise (even if they tell me not to)...I will bring in my camera!!

NY Islanders vs Edmonton Oilers.
We went to the preseason match up yesterday in Stoon. The weather was rainy and cold, so no better place to be.
They told us at the door, that no cameras were allowed (NHL policy??). So, after a few minutes of stewing, I took my camera back to the car. (I know I am a stickler for the rules...the first step is admitting your problem)
After some ribbing from the boys - we settled in for the game.
The highlight for me was watching the zamboni driver...he is an old friend of ours and they used to babysit the boys...
And if thats the highlight...you know it wasnt the greatest game.
The boys enjoyed Tavarres (although he didnt shine as much as we would have liked)...but the game lacked a certain enthusiasm...as did the crowd.
Although the one Islander fan behind us chanted "marty marty!" about 7000 times...so for him I guess it was exciting.
Biron did play well in net...so we'll give him that.
On the way home, the boys were passed out cold from all the excitement and as soon as we pulled into town, DH got called to work. (even though he wasnt "supposed" to...and on no sleep, again!!)

Football
The boys team is named Red Bulls. So their cheer is (from the coach) "Red Bull gives you...." Then the kids say "Wings!!"
Corny...i know...but the boys seem to like it.
These pictures show their game from saturday. We won by one touchdown. I dont know what exactly happened but we scored with about 10 minutes left. After we scored though....they called the game.
Now, thats my kind of coaching. We are up...so the game is over!! haha
Actually I think what happened is that the coaches called last play of the game...and we had a long bomber to win it all.
The kids are having a blast!

sporting update
Retzky had 3on3 last night at 545. They both had football at 600.
So...sent one in the rink....and I went with C-man just across from the rink to get rained on. Yes, we play rain or shine. short season. aarrgghhh
I hear that R-dog won their game...but who really knows?
The boys won their football game 14-0. Retzky even got to be QB for one series and threw for one of the touchdowns!! C-man played well on defense and got to be the kicker a few times as well...starting to get the hang of things.
They are the Red Bulls. Next game - saturday 10am

one more post
With the absolute slaughter at the banjo bowl, I guess its only fitting that I talk a little about foosball.
The boys had their first game on saturday (2 bleepin hours!). They both played really really well, but ended up losing in the final seconds.
Tonight they are on to their second game. Retzky has 3on3 at 545 and the foosball game starts at 600. So...he's going to show up for the ending.

missed lots
I had the opportunity to take lots of hilarious pictures, but once again, my camera failed me. The batteries last only as long as ....well...you know. (kids might be reading this)
So...I now have a new cell phone.....I might just be upgrading the old camera as well....we will see.
Missed Dallys dance instructions to the kids....missed the turkey picture....(not near as burned as last years!!)....
But...we have the mammories and thats all that matters...

Grandma Golfer was there with smarties...and cuddles and reading books. We did our 2nd annual deep fryed turkey. And it was a huge success....turned out awesome...and so did the onion rings, fries, jalepenos, scallops....and well basically anything we could fry....
Brooksy and his bevvy of beauties also made an appearance....what a hoot they were!!

its the most wonderful time of the year...

Well it is that time of year-and this is where I would input the back to school photo-if they would let me take one. but they didnt.
You could tell its that time because - both boys are sick. One with cold, the other with ear infection. only takes a week.
Plus...the calendar is starting to fill up. Hockey tonight and tomorrow night. BBQ and bday party, football starts saturday, hockey again sunday and monday. blah blah blah.
We have had homework every single night. And apparently its not gonna stop coming either. yeah.
And oh yeah...running out of ideas for lunches already. Please help.
send me ideas for lunch boxes and good salad recipes. quick.

This past weekend was a lot of fun...
I had the enjoyment of being "hit on"...by much younger men. (say early 20's) Ok..maybe not "hit on" but being overtly flirted with and I seriously had no idea what to do about it...
I averted my eyes to the ground....got all embarrassed and crawled away slowly. No witty comebacks...no flirting back. I need some work.
It actually reminded me of a flashback to 1980 something (mom help me out here) when we went to a cousins wedding. I remember my beautiful white dress and spanky white hat, and feeling fine. no FINE.....
Having a great time with all the relatives, until suddently a boy paid attention to me!! the nerve!! He asked me to dance - and to be honest - cant even remember if I did or not. But I do remember running out to the van and crying my eyes out for hours!!
Am I a confident woman, or what???
So...now 20 some years later, am I still the same little girl ?????

forgot to post another bday!!
Had the big 2 year olds bday party in style....Riderpride style....with a wee bit of princess thrown in (maybe a little too princessy for R-dog who had enough by the time the party was over...but was a really good sport about it). Happy bday stinker!!
