my two new mantras...

I know its not December 31st...but I have already decided to implement two resolutions...back to school resolutions....and I will repeat them over and over...

Hockey is what we do, not who we are.

Keep you mouth shut.

First one....self explanatory....I might go a bit hockey bananas....not helping anyone.

Second one...I am not talking mean ....no trash talk....no judgey judgey. (except to two or three of you that I know can handle it, when I really need to get it off my chest)

didya miss me?

okay...heres a quick run down of whats been going on...

R-dog loved hockey camp. Lots of energy burned.

Lake weekend with Louise and the other C turned out to be pretty nice.

Blueberry festival...crazy ton of people...didnt buy any gifts...boo!

Both boys grounded. Long story.

Both registered for hockey and football. Fees went up crazy this year. lucky us

R-dog playing 3 on 3. 1st game they win, he scores 11 goals. 2nd game (i go watch) they lose, he gets 1 goal.

Only one drunk dial from ACDC concert...wish we were there!

School starts in 3 sleeps. Then we will get on a schedule and I will have some hilarious stories...really.

DH and I are playing ball this weekend. havent even thrown a ball in 2-possibly 3 years. played catch last night. pathetic. could be really interesting.

hump day..

Had a couple of calls from Retzky last night. Loving his hockey camp. Meeting new kids....but the rumor is that he might be a tad homesick...those words never crossed his lips....so its only a rumor.

Have had C-man in the boys n girls day camp for the week...and although he is by himself (literally - every time I pick him up)...he says he is having fun. Tomorrow they bus them into the city to the Forestry Farm...he says he wants to go...so away he goes.

I am feeling ultra guilty that I havent been able to help Louise paint her house....tonight I am having her over for supper and if she lets me, might be over tonight holding a ladder???

DH came home last night..but tonight he is working a little longer ...so wont see him until tomorrow or friday night...then we are off to the lake...where the dang forecast better hold out....its BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL weekend!! and also...trying to finish up the booze in the cabin....cant leave it sit over the winter, can we??

oh ...who am I kidding...as if there is any left over after a weekend...let alone a summer month???

day 3-lake

So....thursday of the holidays, the boys and I ventured off to the lake.

Not the greatest of days...but certainly not the worst. Played some ball, and some frisbee...went to the regional park. When the weather went a little south, I read. Started and finished Twilight (ok...now I definitely have to read the other two...dont like to jump on "bandwagons"...but certainly enjoyed this easy read)...started and finished another JPicoult book ...and started an Oprah book club book that put me in a deep coma and pretty sure I will never touch it again...may even be fit for starting the fire.

DH was able to join us that night....and came out friday night to start the weekend off.

It rained. and I was miserable...so we came home early sunday morning. end of story.

day 2-sod sod sod...laying the sod

Left for the city to pick up some last minute back to school items, when I got a call that the sod was already there and that they were working without us!!
Damn them..dont they know I'm a dirty girl?? I mean...dont they know that I like to get dirty?? I mean...well...you know what I mean.
Even my boys helped...especially when the sprinklers came on. GnD's yard looks awesome...and even bigger than before....cant wait to christen it...I mean drink beer on it!!

parade

I dont even remember when the parade was (thinking day 1??) It was longer than normal, and really lacked a lot of creativity this year.

But the boys enjoyed the hunt. The "back to basics"...."instinct of fighting for food"...as the candy train rolled by. I'm sure I saw their fangs a few times...and they still have a mountain of candy..

The last picture is of the machine that the boys want Uncle G and Auntie D to buy....how bout it???

day 1-golf/cochin ocean

First official day of holidays, the boys and I spent the morning golfing at a little par 3 just on the outskirts of town. Good for a one-time deal, but I dont think tha the boys or I really enjoyed it...they wanted a "real" course, and I had to agree. (golf pictures in last post). Retzky and I kept score...he beat me on 2 of the 9 holes...although his counting is a bit conspicuous. C-man didnt keep score, but tells us he won.
For the afternoon we headed out to Cochin Ocean and spent the afternoon visiting, tubing and wakeboarding (or trying to wakeboard)...the weather wasnt the greatest (which seems to be the theme this summer)...but the visit was great.

my summer holidays are officially over

and thank goodness for my camera...i seriously have no idea what just happened.

here are a few pics...more to follow...

full circle

Thank goodness for grandparents...our three sets have been wonderful to us.

All three took a spin at watching the hoodlums for a few days...oops...i mean angels.

My folks took them for three days and had jam packed days. They went to the pool for swimming, golf, shopping, and and and

Here we find out that my best friend's boy hosted them for a couple of days. Took them to the golf course...showed them his video skills....swam with them. Our boys had a blast with him. Its funny how after all these years...now our kids are going to be buddies. (i think her youngest actually called them "his cousins"....sweet....)

This past weekend while we were golfing...Grandma and pa B&C watched the boys for us. They took them to the ex and spent every last dime they had. Hope to get some pics emailed as they are pretty funny.

And the kids are asking when they can go back to golf with Grandma and Grandpa golfer...

Its wonderful to have three active and wonderful sets of grandparents....

Fuj got the skunk this year...poor DH was skunkless....

our babysitters...

Our team!! Thank goodness they were great golfers....they were fun to be with and awesome to watch. (As it turns out we won the whole dang thing!!!)

Retzky was taking the pictures...so none of him here...just C-man. Puts on his game face and goes.....he did pretty dang good too!

Here is the birthday party for our dancer niece....she turned 11!! WOW. She is turning out to be a wonderful person....and we love her to bits. Happy birthday sweetie!!

getting it done....

We've had an enjoyable last few weeks. My folks came up for a visit to the cabin...and although the weather was dreary, still managed to get out and pick some saskatoons with my mom. I froze some, the others went into my first saskatoon berry pie!! It was delicious....

Both boys are up on waterskiis now...no problem....Retzky has been more comfortable on the knee board, but still will ski once in awhile....they would really love a wake board to conquer next...so we will have to wait and see.

My niece had a birthday last week as well...have some good pictures of her supper. Nice to be able to spend time together with her and her family (even if it was short).

Also to follow....golf tourney pictures....it was SOOOO Much Fun. And seriously great weather.....try to post those tomorrow.
