Its...not "me"...ok?
Anywhoo...I am the type of person that doesnt hoard. In fact, I do the opposite of hoarding....sometimes I throw things out before their time....definitely not a saver.
My closet is no exception. If I havent worn it in a year...I toss it.
Except...I bought a work suit from Dally about 5 years ago. The jacket always fit...the pants....definitely tight. They have not fit this whole time. Now.....drum roll please....they fit.....wore them to work today!! (yes...they may be just slightly out of style...but its the point of the matter)
So...I started looking for my "skinny jeans"....I kept them for years because I spent a lot of money on them....and can NOT find them anywhere....must have given them away. I am sure they are next on my list to fit.
Its almost a good thing I dont save my clothes, otherwise I would be digging out my acid wash, and my white cowboy boots.....
Thank goodness I'm a chucker....definitely dont want that combo back!!

bits n pieces
Good morning y'all...nice to see you up and at 'em....
We are slowly moving around here...DH still has a terrible cold (I think its bronchitis...but he refuses to go to the doctor...typical male thing, right?) The oldest is finally rid of his cold, now the youngest has started to hack. I have been alright. knock knock
The last two days of work were absolutely crazy. Basically worked from 7:30am-11pm and barely kept up. Today, I am taking a minute or two to myself before heading in. Re-grouping and finding my love for the treadmill. (or my hate...??)
Another typically busy week for the boys with powerskating, hockey and two birthday parties. One at the bowlarena and the other at a really cool sledding hill...should be fun. DH and Retzky are off to Hafford for a one day hockey tourney on saturday while C-man and I stay home. Both play games on sunday afternoon to round off the week.

updates for the grandparents
So...I guess I might have jinxed us. Shouldnt have posted our win until everything was done.
C-man had two more games saturday and lost them both. Not sure what happened to his "jump" on saturday...but they had a lot of fun. Now we say...we lost in the B side semi's ...
After quite a few shifts (thank goodness for DH doing the early early shift on sunday)...what a man!! (We had a few teammates over to analyze our games with a few bevvies)
Back to work today...my boss has headed out of town- and the poo hit the fan today...It was insane....and as I type...I am checking the emails that keep pouring in on my work laptop...so I guess I better keep working...

New Tourney...new results
Now its C-mans tourney weekend.
We had our first game tonight against Wilkie. We won 5-2!! Yah!!
C had 2 goals and either 2 or 3 assits (I forget already...and I had to do the scoresheet).???
After the game, I was part of the organizing committee, so we had to stay to make up kids bags etc etc...it went pretty smoothly considering we have 24 teams and 3 rinks going on with a lot of Type A personalities...
Tomorrow we play 2:15 against PA, then again at either 4:45 or 6 (in either an A or B side semi)
We work a ton of shifts...saturday from 1-5 basically, and Sunday from 7:30-noon.....oh lucky us....thank goodness DH will be around to help out....

Velvis...
Okay Auntie Velvis...seriously.....my life is just a little dull at the moment, but I did manage to find a few photos of xmas time that I hadnt posted. Now..trust me when I tell you I dont have anything else to post.
Tomorrow I am heading in to the city with my boss for meetings all day. leaving at 7am...and for those of you that know me, know that I dont rise before 7 ever....so could be interesting.
Friday we have hockey games and hockey meetings after that. Saturday same. Sunday same.

Nope....no news posted earlier...because we were a bit frustrated....
We went 0-3.
Good news is that we got to enjoy the weather the rest of the afternoon....sledding and skating on the outdoor rink.

second fiddle..
Okay...second game was even worse...lots to 5....
We got 5 goals (which is two more than the other team got against them...so thats something positive, right?)
Retzky got better as the game went on...and it was nice to see him working hard. He got 3 goals for our team....but we were really outpowered.
Tomorrow we are in the C semis at 1ish...where we belong.....

quick update...good and ugly
Okay..last night C-mans game ....they won 11-1....he had his three goals in the first period...then went and played d....he worked hard....
Today...the total other end of the spectrum for R-dog. 12-2 on the losing end. Their good players didnt really play and their not so good players were even worse....ugly...painful....
Hopefully this afternoon will be better....

Singing or Preachin
La la la laa la la laaaaa
C-man has been doing a lot of singing lately. Okay...who am I kidding? He sings all the time. Unless he's talking.
The other day he tells us that he wants to be "in oprah".
Huh?
Yes...I want to be "in oprah"...
Hmmm......??? Do you mean Opera? Cause thats a whole other playing field....
Yes....I would like to be in opera.
Thats new and different and pretty sure they dont have opera classes here in town...so maybe we'll have to look for a vocal coach....except he only sings for us....and not in front of audiences....

hockey fun
Okay...powerskating tues. Practise weds and thursday (DH missed both...so I got to go enjoy the frigid rinks...can you hear the sarcasm?).
C-man plays tomorrow at 5:45...then we have to get together to do the final preparation for Retzkys tourney this weekend.
He is set to play at 9:45 and 4:45 saturday. We are working from 12-5 and getting them to a birthday party inbetween.
Sunday we dont know where or when we will play....but we should also be around for our teams shifts from 12-5 to make sure everybody makes it....
C-man also plays sunday morning...so it will be a quick, interesting, exhausting weekend.

I have finished reading another J.P book. Its the third one of this authors I have read now (big sale at Costco)
This one was called Salem Falls.
As I said earlier, she is a good author for easy reads, and lots of twists. This one gives the same, although of the three I would have to say that this one would rank in third.

Is it monday??
Nope...just looked at the calendar. Its tuesday...and feels like xmas holidays all over again.
The boys had yesterday off (already!!) for a teacher prep day....no comment.
So..the whole fam damily went into the city for the kids eye dr appointments. DH didnt have a train to go on (another derailment in the Border City)...so he came along.
The boys got to see Dr Freddy....C-mans eyes are still a bit wonky. We were hoping he would grow out of his far sightedness...but hasnt. He is right on the verge of needing a prescription. It was basically up to us if we wanted to get him glasses for school work or just leave it as is. We decided not to get glasses as his teacher hasnt mentioned anything and we havent noticed a huge deal because of it. We just have to keep a watch on it.
R-dogs eyes are perfect....just like his daddys.
We also stopped at Costco (twice)....and picked up a nice chunk of groceries.....and still need to get some more in town today!!
The trip didnt last long as it looked like another blizzard heading our way....so we got on the road......the roads were good....slick and a bit blowy...but nothing too severe.
Came home and made a huge pot of soup while the kids were sledding...and DH was off to rec hockey.......thats it....thats all.....

weekend adventures
Well...we have made it through this blizzard...so far unscathed...but tomorrows shovelling will be another storey....we have had snow since about 11 non stop....and its still coming down HARD....
Lets see....friday we went out for supper to celebrate DH's and C-mans birthday (plus we seriously are living on rationed canned goods until I get to Costco on monday)....met some friends there and then went to their house for a quick drink.
Saturday....we had hockey....not even first thing...which was nice...we all got to sleep in a little bit. C-man got to play for Grandma Tractor and Grandpa Tractor went and watched Retzky. C-man lost by one (8-7)...but they really started to come on strong at the end. I swear if there was 5 minutes more our team would come home with more wins than lossess!
R-dog came away with a tie. I missed that one (again)....they were winning with one second left and the other team tied it up...a bit of a bummer...but it wasnt a loss, i guess.
We had a nice, but short, visit with the folks......the kids did quite a bit of sledding.....then we headed out to a friends for more skating and a few bevvies....
Sunday morning....the whole fam dam went sledding (yes...even me). We had a blast before the snow came. We had contests - fastest-longest-last one up the hill- backwards-over the jump - you name it. We had the hill to ourselves and had a blast.
Quickly came home, warmed up and shipped C-man off to a birthday party. It was really nice meeting the family as they only live a block away and have 3 boys - hopefully we will see more of them. Then both boys played (at the same time again!) hockey.
R-dog came away with a 6-4 victory....2 goals...and coach says he played really well (DH)
C-mans team came back from 6-2 and ended up with a 6-6 tie. C got the game tying goal with 2 minutes left and we couldnt score with a 3-0 with 15 seconds left....it was an exciting game and our little man played really well.
Now...I am just trying to organize so that I can head to the city tomorrow (hopefully the roads will allow it) The boys dont have school...so we are off to eye doctor appointments, Costco, and hopefully a hairdresser....

tried another...
This time we tried Louise's easy chicken...
Russian Salad dressing...apricot jam....onion soup mix....on chicken breasts...we put them in the slow cooker....delicious!!
I've had lots of ideas...so thanks for all of them!! Keep em coming!!
Finally convinced Scott (ok after 9 months of bitchin and complainin) to move the treadmill to the downstairs bedroom. Now we have lots of room to play...and do work out videos.
We all tried the new WII fit (thanks auntie Velvis) and love it!! Although she could lighten up by telling me how much weight i need to lose....BACK OFF computer mii......
3/4 of us off to the rink for hockey practise...the other 1/4 (moi) gets to go to a different rink for a tournament meeting....yeah!

Not a New Years Resolution
I said I wasnt making a resolution...and I didnt. I made a promise to myself - WAY - after the first....
I am going to try to do more "meal planning"....in other words....try to stop having tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for every other meal.
I tried to email everybody on my facebook list to ask for their "go-to" recipes...but it wouldnt let me (by "it" I mean technology )...so here goes.
If you have a couple recipes that are your standbys in a pinch...I would love to hear them. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that falls back on a few fav's...
So far I have a few good ones that I havent made before and am going to try to do.
The first we had last night...and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Pork Chop Recipe (original, eh?)
Take a large handful of cabbage for each person you are cooking for. (I used cabbage from a bag of coleslaw we had)
Cut in some onion.
Cut, core and skin one apple and throw that in.
On top of that put your porkies....then drizzle on some Catalina dressing. (or as desired)
Cook at 400 for 40 minutes.....yummy....
We made with mashed potatoes (i made extra and froze them) ...and steamed veggies.....
I will post more recipes as I make them....

hockey update
Retzkys team 0-2 this weekend...and not all that close. They seem to have had too much figgy pudding or something.
C-mans team was 1-1 (he was in goal for the win....and got a shut out!! Only to find out the other team only had 3 shots on goal!! He was sooooo bored...and doesnt want to be goalie ever again!! I hope so!!)
Next weekend I believe they both play in town saturday and sunday. The following weekend is Retzkys tourney and the weekend after that is C-mans.
It will be a fun filled tourney month...

My Baby Boy is 7
I know I am a few days late...its taken me awhile to gather my thoughts...cobwebs have been starting to form.
My baby boy turned 7 on Jan 1st (shares his birthday with a cool cuz o mine)...
To celebrate (that and New Years) we booked rooms at a hotel in Stoon to waterslide, eat, drink and socialize. I dont have a lot of pics because I forgot to bring my camera out until about an hour before checkout...but I AM PATIENTLY WAITING FOR OTHERS TO SEND ME SOME!! heehee
The weather was stormy..but we all made it safe and sound. Retzky only rented one movie without my knowlege ($15 touch) and we didnt watch it either...too busy sliding and hottubbin.
The boys went down to the slide and let us girls watch the junior hockey game (great game by the way...vs the USA)...and we were supposed to flash (small ones for the USA scoring....big ones for Canada scoring).....but there were a few that wouldnt partake (ok...none of the girls would partake...)
The socializing was awesome...we saw friends we hadnt seen in awhile...and all was going good until we got a knock on the door with our first warning. I panicked and went a little psychotic (thinking where the heck would we stay on that evening...and who would drive us?)...so we moved to another room (we had 7 !!) They only got another two warnings...but really the group was quiet and well behaved...so not sure what they were thinking.
The next morning, the gossip was flying around the building when a couple of us heard the cops called in...and it wasnt for us !(we must be getting older)....
We had breakfast at Darrens suggestion....then headed out to GnD's place for some more bs'ing....and so Fat Dog could take all of our remaining cash...
It was a great time...and cant wait to do it again...
two books in two days...
Got on a bit of a reading kick through the holidays...and my lack of housework proves it.
The Last Lecture...xmas present from my mom....excellent book....really a textbook on how to live life....loved it...only cried a little.
Perfect Match...another Jodi Picoult book....she is an easy read kinda author...this one didnt disappoint....have a couple more of hers under the bed ....
